Your pda screams and whines all the time?
Suffer no more! Download this freeware app (http://http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=155828) , customize to suit your needs (various adjustment levels offered) and get rid of the annoying sound for good.
As far as I know, this hack works with LD, TX, T5 and T3 (Xcale processors) models but miliage seems to vary from model to model. A T5 user apparently can't get the hack to stay permanent but I had no trouble silencing my T3.
Hope it works for you! :D

I haven't had any whine since I installed warpSpeed eons ago...I wonder why this new utility is causing all this news?

I get a cut of ad revenue with each download!! ;)
Nah! I know Dmitry's app worked this out eons ago but you have to consider that this is a free app and many people out there --including me- just don't think you have to pay to erradicate something that shouldn't be there in the first place!
warpSpeed is a great app and even allows you to over/ underclock but if you only need to kill screen whine, this new app seems the way to go.

Hi Dmitry,
what is the problem with WhineHack? Can you be more specific i.e. can it damage the hardware (screen), cause the device to hand etc.?

Dmitrygr, i have a problem with your ''reduce Screen Noise'' in Ws.
If i enable it, the screen behaves unnormal: If i jump to another application, the screen losses saturation and is almost (you can still see the colors, but they are nearly black-withe). After jumping to another app again, the screen is normal, again. It's not a big problem but perhaps you could tell me the reason for that.

My LifedDrive has had zero instabilities and zero whine using WhineHack. It's simple and effective. With all due respect, my experiences with warpSpeed were altogether opposite.

What is the app called, I can't get your link to work.

I've had no trouble at all with WS on my TX. I don't see the benefit of installling another app on my device (free or not) that does something I already have the ability to do. The more apps you install, the more likely you are to get an unstable device.

@ cyberdude: And that's fine. WhineHack isn't necessarily offered to people who have had success with and actively use warpSpeed. It's offered to those who did not buy warpSpeed yet want to eliminate whine.

Greetings,
I seem to remember, from my LauncherX days, that you beat the world record once, for the most apps on a PDA! Did you learn the hard way since? :D

Granted. I was speaking for myself, primarily. Also I was speaking in general about installing apps you may not need. (this is probably more prevalent than you would believe) I originally bought and installed WS as an over/under clocking app. along with brightnessfix, WS extends the battery life significantly by setting the system default speed as low as possible and just setting the appropriate apps to use higher speeds
I certainly support all developers. And if this is as good as it sounds, would not discourage people from using it, but it would be silly for anyone who has WarpSpeed, and is comfortable with it's performance, to install this app.

Well, I'd like to take the credit for that record, but I think Dennis at LXP already has far surpassed me.
Yes, I had a lot of apps, still do. But I did learn the hard way that I had too many. When I migrated from a T|T to my current TX, I had to get rid of a bunch of apps that were incompatible, too many of those I paid good money for! In truth, my list of apps in my sig on LXP seemed longer than it actually was. I just counted my apps and ther are only 68 (that actually includes some duplication). I have a few more than that on my card in hidden directories. Those are apps that are currently incompatible, but I haven't the heart to delete (like trivial pursuit). I also have a truckload of ebooks - just under 400!
How's that for a long-winded answer to a simple question?

My LifedDrive has had zero instabilities....
that shouldnt be the primary worry...

I third this request to be more specific. Please point out the danger(s) of WhineHack versus warpSpeed.

with warpSpeed i tested out many configurations for speeds that lcd will handle [killing a few in the process]. i see a few available options in whinehack that killed lcds in my testing of warpSpeed. Now i will not go into speculation of weather i had faulty LCDs or it were the speeds, or anything else. I did my part and warned.

Thanks. Were these sudden, abbrupt and total failures you experienced? What was the failure? What devices were they?

I too find no need to apply wild custom settings within WhineHack (potentially killing the screen, as you so accomplished using a different application though that app's settings weren't specified).
WhineHack simply does what it claims very well, right from its installation using the provided defaults. Like the many other users of the WhineHack, my screen is still doing its job and looks just the same as always yet without noise. However, your warning is duly noted.
For those that are curious, I have no affiliation with the developer. I'm a user who's had great success and, with all due respect, want to offer unbiased reports. I'm sharing so that people don't believe this app indiscriminately fries screens.

I've noticed that some settings in WhineHack do affect screen performance, if you choose the most aggresive Divisor setting -0-, your screen will look washed-out, while level 1 will give you some distortion in some areas of the screen.
Also, it seems prone to crash. I've already experienced two resets in less than a day.
As always, your milage will vary.
Thanks for the advice Dmitry!

Whine Hack increase the frequency of LCD so just choose the default divisor (2) (that is enough for reducing the screen whining)

WhineHack 1.1 installed on my Zire 72s untill noe NO problems!
the screen works fine, no whining (start only if i start palmpdf). i tried warpSpeed but the WhineHack is free!
p.s. the CPU is still 312mhz (tested), no distortion, no LCD slowness!
