I have a question about TX ROM Crafting for Dmitrygr.

Are you going to release some sort of TX Rom crafting tool.

The sort of thing I mean is a tool to remove any or all of the default programs and extras which come pre-loaded on the TX.

For example, if you wanted you could remove Blazer, addit, the tour, SMS, Dialer, Solitaire, Pocket Tunes, Docs to Go, Expenses etc

For this functionality alone, I would pay for such a tool.

I wanted to state this because although some people have already posted about their wish list Roms, No-one has posted a willingness to pay for such a thing.
I would gladly pay for some sort of Rom crafter and I bet others would too. (and I would pay more than the bargain price you offer your other programs for. Up to $30 would be fine for me)

Just to be able to delete these things (with an option to restore to default) would be great.
If in a later edition the function to add custom programs was added, it would be perfect.

To everyone else, If you agree and would buy such a tool, why not reply here to show support for develoment.

Thanks

I sure would like the app too... if you check the LifeDrive forum, there's a longer thread where he says he would make it mid july...

OMG!!! It's coming!!! :D

C'mon dimitry; please make one to add / remove soft from there! :)

Yeah, but thats for the lifedrive, not the TX.

I wanted to demonstrate that TX users want one too.

(and thanks for the reply)

I'm still on a T3 but eyeing a new Palm in the late fall, either whatever's new or a TX. I'd definitely be interested in a ROM customizing tool. A backup to card option would be nice as well as delete from and add to ROM. Worth $25-$30 - sure.

I would definitely pay for a ROM crafting tool for my TX. It would be so nice to remove some of the preinstalled software that I never use.

I just hope Dmitry is up to it. :D

Add my $.02

I would like a rom crafter very much. I spent on Jack Sprat & Jack Flash & would pay for
apps w/similar functionality. Restoring to prev condition is important, but I would want to be able to remove stuff like PTunes, b/c it would be better to able to remove an old version b4 installing a newer one & not have to waste ram.

Keep up the good work Dmitry!

:(

No reply from Dmitry yet, so I'm not too optimistic.

Hopefully if a few more people add support for this, he may consider it.

I would also like a rom crafting program for my TX.

It would be great to add some of my favorite applications to ROM.

Dimitry has not responded to ANY of these requests, so I think we can reasonably assume he is not able or uninterested. ...or he's working on it :)

You can count me in! I would also pay for a tool/application where I could decide what to keep on ROM.

Count me in as an interested party for a ROM crafting tool. Willing to pay too.

The custom ROM he wrote is actually alot simpler of a procedure than making a rom crafter. The custom rom only edits one section of the rom, and I believe Dmitry told me there were 3 sections. The one he edited was the safest to edit. I believe he is either currently researching how to safely edit the others, or he is working on making the rom crafter.

@ enotar,

just be careful as to which programs you load fm what you had b4.

They should be NVFS aware & you can usually check in the vendor's site or readme; or
just check if it is TX compatible.

Check out the TX Memory Mgmt thread on the TX forum here on 1src. It is great.

Good luck,

Eli

I just thought it might be a good idea to show that some people were willing to PAY for such a thing.
The other requests were mostly just people putting forward thier personal wishlists for ROMs, with no mention of reward.

Ahhhh, I see.

Pity it hasn't worked though :(

Worth a try I guess.

Is there even a small chance of this Dmitrygr, or are we all just dreaming here ?

I would be very interested too (and willing to pay for it). Actually I'd be happy enough with an app that lets me choose which files are loaded to RAM after a hard reset, but as I don't know much about the internals of Palm OS5 I have no idea if that's even possible...
