900mah seems to be the top battery on eBay for the UX50? Is there a higher capacity one around? Also, is there any way to use another camera in place of the one for the UX50? Maybe the one from the Zire 72? (sigh)

You can't change the camera, but you can use the PEGA-EB40 to extend battery life.
