Lately I fried my Clie's internal charging circuit so that I cannot charge the internal battery anymore. Thinking of ways to fix this I came up with a slightly strange idea: get some digicam battery and mod the case that it can be slid in and out and charged externally in a standard battery charging cradle. Digicam batts are cheap, so I could actually get a couple and switch them while on the go... this would also get rid of the battery limit ;)
well, so far the idea... one problem is that you've got to backup while switching and charging and then each time set up a few things :(
another problem is that appearance is not that great, the battery extends beyond the case b/c I had to insert "contacts" for the batt to to connect to. but that's not a big deal to me and not even _that_ bad.
Overall replacing the battery is not as easy as with a digi cam (harder to pull out, backup before you pull it...) but it works :)
Well, the modification is done and working - but has not been through any long-time testing, but it feels solid and may survive daily use.
