Is there anyway to access the Memory stick via the IR port?
I woul dearly love to be able to get the images off my memory stick on to my laptop without the need of a cradle and also to upload Mp3s to the stick.
Cheers

I doubt it would be possible to use MS Import to access the memory stick via IR. The PC drivers required to make MS Import work are part of the MS Export software that needs to be installed on the PC.
You don't actually need to run the MS Export application, but it must be installed on your PC for MS Import to work on the Clie.

It's possible (although not available to my knowledge) to write a program that would allow you to receive beamed files from your Palm on your PC. However, it would be extremely slow as the IR signal is a serial connection that would top out around 115kbps. It would take over 90 seconds to transfer 1MB of data. It would not be the most efficient way to transfer MP3s or large image files.
A USB cable is going to be the best way to transfer this data.

I have sent files from my memory stick to my Son's Toshiba laptop. He is running XP home. I lined the IR ports, then just hit beam. XP treats the Clie just like another laptop. Puts the files right on the desktop. Going from the laptop to the Clie is not as easy. I was able to trick the laptop IR manager into opening by starting to beam from the Clie - then sent a file to the Clie. I got an unknown file error (tried to send a MS word file), so I think the palm was trying to install the file instead of loading it to the MS. At least you should be able to beam to the PC though.
