I don't know. One, I like the treo antenna. Two, does the element stay straight when you mod it? three, is the original antenna that breakable? I would not have thought so.

Also, I saw a comment on treocentral that someone paid $200 for a replacement antenna from palm. They could have bought a surplus treo on eBay for less and had some other spare parts to play with.

1. It's up to your choice. Some people would have prefer a shorter or no antenna.

2. Of course. Same antenna core, just shorter.

3. Original antenna breakable? Nope. But the length of the antenna may cause the body to crack due to levering action if too much force is exerted on it.

That fellow who paid $200 should have searched the ebay for one. I found one there.

This question has nothing to do with the antenna, but what launcher are you using.
