I understand there have been many many discussions on internet with Bluetooth, but it seems that many ppl still couldn't get their Clie connected to Internet through bluetooth ....... INCLUDING ME!
Somebody who has succesfully connected to Internet via Bluetooth (without Mocha PPP) pleeeease share with us!
Thanks a lot!

This is how I got my setup to work without the use of MochaPPP.
This is what I’ve done. These 2 reponses from www.palminfocenter.com did the trick for me.
Windows:
- Connect a free COM-port to a “Bluetooth serial device”.
- Add a null modem “Communications cable between two computers” to that COM-port under “Phone And Modem Option” in the control panel.
- Make a new “Incoming Connection” under “Network and Dial-up Connections” and connect it to the previously created COM-port.
Done!
Tungsten:
- Bluetooth: Team up your PC and Palm
- Create a Connection named “BT-serial” and make it connect to “PC” via “Bluetooth” and your “[Teamed computer]” (I’ve also changed the speed to 115kpbs... but don’t know if it make any difference in speed)
- Create a new “Network service” and name it “WRAS”. Leave name and password empty. Choose the Connection “BT-serial”. Now to the part that makes it work. Press Details and then Script... The script should look like this:
Send: CLIENT
Send: CLIENT
Wait for: CLIENTSERVER
End:
Done!
These are the steps I took, under XP:
1.) Add the modem: In Control Panel, double-click Phone and "Modem Options" (if needed, switch to "Classic View" first). Go to the "Modems" tab, and click "Add." On the next screen ("Add New Modem"), check the box labeled "Don't detect my modem; I will select it from a list." Click "Next." Highlight "Communications cable between two computers," then click "Next." On the next screen, under the question "On which ports do you want to install it?" choose "Selected ports." Then highlight the serial port used by your BT adapter for Serial Port (the one under Local Services--the same one you used under Mocha PPP). Click "Next," and when available, click "Finish."
2.) Configure modem: In the "Phone and Modem Options" window, highlight the modem added above and click "Properties." Click the "Modem" tab. Change the "Maximum Port Speed" to 115200 (or higher, if available). Click "OK" and then close the "Phone and Modem Options" window.
3.) Create incoming connection: In Control Panel, double-click "Network Connections" (if needed, switch to "Classic View" first). On the left-hand side, under "Network Tasks," click "Create a new connection." Click "Next" in the "New Connection Wizard" window. Click the "Set up an advanced connection" radio button. Click "Next." Click the "Accept incoming connections radio button. Check the box containing the modem created previously (probably named "Communications cable between two computers"). Click "Next." Click "Do not allow virtual private connections." Click "Next." (In my case, at the "User Permissions" screen, I added my own Win XP login account to the list of "Users allowed to connect." I did not select "Guest.") Click "Next," then "Finish"
4.) Get rid of Mocha PPP! (Or at least kill it for the time being.) Also, as usual, make sure Hotsync isn't set for Serial syncing.
That's it for the XP-side. I did create a connection on the TT similar to the instructions above. The TT gets valid IP, gateway IP, and DNS IP addresses from the LAN's DHCP server. Seems to work fine so far, without the hiccups that Mocha PPP seemed to cause.
Using the Modem Sync work-around, I'm able to Hotsync too. Actually, my BT adapter is not even on my Hotsync PC, and it still works fine (Palm Desktop isn't installed on the PC I'm using at work right now, but my BT adapter is).
I would like to see if the speed can be bumped up, assuming it is really at 11500 (which the log on the PC indicates), but I'll leave that for another day...

jhason,
Finally the connection is established!!!
But still couldn't browse using my NetFront. :-(
Do I need to do any further setting on the XP network connection?
My DSLconnection is already "Shared".
What else? Thanks!

Kuso,
Actually Netfront works on and off...I will tell you what I think it is in my next reply. But let just see if your internet connectivity is actually working. First off did your TSG-50 get an IP addy at all? After you have establish your BT connection go to preferences, select options and view log. Scroll down to see if you got an IP addy and a DNS number. Then go to you WinXP box and try to ping your TSG50 with the IP that you got from the log. If you got an echo then you should be set.
Then I would install Verchat (IMing program) from www.verichat.com. Install v1.58b NOT the Hi Res version for some odd reason that doesn't work. But go ahead install that and see if you can at least use AIM, Yahoo, or MSN.
Give that a try and let me know how that goes. Also I have the following services on WinXP started....
Routing and Remote Access, Remote Access Connection Manager, and Remote Acess Auto Connection Manager (By default this service was disabled, it's a very important service since it allows mapping to DNS and NetBIOS)

I tried to follow the procedure above but my comm port (comm 8) used by the Bluetooth USB dongle does not appear when creating the cable conection. Only ports 1 and 2 were available.
Any ideas ?

Mauro,
Try rebooting your computer...All my virtual COM ports that my BT adapter is using is showing up (IBM Bluetooth PC Card). Make sure you have the most up to date software and drivers for your BT dongle. Having the latest updates and Service Pack for WinXP doesn't hurt to help also.
Thanks,
Jhason

jhason,
In the Network Log I can see Local IP Address, Gateway address. But the DNS address is empty. Is it normal?
I ping the IP and got an echo.
All my BT services, except the Serial Port, are disabled.
I will try the Verichat. Get back to you soon. Thanks

Kusmo,
Yeah if you don't have a DNS IP then there is no way for your PDA to conduct address resolution. Run ipconfig /all on your WinXP host to find out the DNS addy that it's using and then assign the DNS addy to your PDA. See if that works...
Thanks,
Jhason

jhason,
Can see my DSL's DNS address. I assigned in my PDA connection.
Still couldn't connect.
Tried Verichat. Failed to connect as well.

DCHP = Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol...This should be disabled.

Kusumo,
Make sure these services are turned on.
Routing and Remote Access, Remote Access Connection Manager, and Remote Acess Auto Connection Manager (By default this service was disabled, it's a very important service since it allows mapping to DNS and NetBIOS)
You should set all these services to automatically start. After you have enabled these services to start automatically try rebooting your box. See if that works.

All that needs to be done is to create a network connection for the Clie, and enable ICS on the PC as outlined at the bottom of the page in THIS (http://www.cliesource.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=2609&perpage=15&pagenumber=1) thread (last post on page-1).
I have had several people tell me that his does not work, but I have done this on every model of Clie from the N760 up to the NZ90/TG50, and on several computers running Win2000 Pro, XP Home and XP Pro, and with a variety of BT adapters from D-Link, IOGear and MSI, and it works EVERY TIME. I even got it to work under Win98SE, even though my IOGear manual says it won't work with 98!! (It's not 100% under 98 - I sometimes have to hit connect twice.)
I really don't understand why people are having trouble with this. I can't really help trouble shoot it because I have never failed to get it working. It just works, every time, with every combination I try. I can only assume that people that can't get it to work are either doing something wrong, or have something seriously screwed up on their computers. For which my only suggestion is to un-install everything and start from scratch and follow my directions.
All you need to do it install the BT software on the Clie and the PC, and enable ICS to share your net connection with the BT adapter (note that that is your net connection from your PC to the Internet which would be your Ethernet, or Dial-Up adapter).
You don't need to worry about services or paring or anything else on the PC side. Just go through the set up on the Clie and should work.
