I would appreciate any advice on a good replacement programme for the SMS programme built into the Palm T/X. When I use this programme to download messages, the Palm T/X promptly soft resets for no apparent reason. The mobile phone I am using is a Nokia 6021
I would like to try out another programme to see if SMS is causing the crash.
All advice as always on this excellent forum much appreciated.
Thanks

I am using mobileSMS. It does support bluetooth. This software is far more better than the default one in TX.

Thanks Acer007
Thank you for your reply. Can you give me the site where I can get mobileSMS please.
try funSMS... it works on TX and a toothed SL75, although development seems as being stopped.
I'm also using FunSMS on my TX replacing the original sms app.
It's quite straight forward & simple to use. I've been using it since my previous UX50.

I asked them about support to newer phone models, and they told me that this year version 6 will be released - but I don't know exactly when.

i'm also using funSMS 5 with T|X and Sony Ericsson T610. i connect them using bluetooth. my problem is, i was only able to sent an sms once. now, i only use this to retrieve sms but not send. i paired it again with my phone but to no avail. can anybody help? :(
I use MobileSMS (http://www.handango.com/SoftwareCatalog.jsp?jid=5D39XXF8BD4ACEAEF68E3B112CAA283A&platformId=1&siteId=1&N=96804&N=96804&Ntt=mobilesms&Ntk=All&Nty=1) too. $5.95 at Handango (http://www.handango.com/SoftwareCatalog.jsp?siteId=1&jid=5D39XXF8BD4ACEAEF68E3B112CAA283A&N=96804&platformId=1). It's excellent. I've used it for 4 years now.
1. Very user friendly interface
2. You totally can customize your phonebook display -- First Name+Last Name (I use this), Last Name+First Name... whatever you want.
3. comes with a desktop component enabling export of sms to a text file.
4. Frequently used messages can be stored and sent with a couple of taps.
The only downsides are,
1. max number of characters per message is 160
2. doesn't beep when download is complete
3. unread messages aren't specially marked
4. you can't search the messages database with the default "Find" function. FindWiz 4.2 (http://www.exploreyourpalm.com/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=28) (highly recommended), though, easily does so.

Hi araj
Thank you for your feedback. Is MobileSMS easy to install, in that it links up easily with your phone via bluetooth please ? Also when you download sms's from your phone does it also give you the name of the person who sent the sms ?
Just asking since my T/X is incredibly stable just now and I am a little reluctant to muck about with it.
Thanks for your response.
Hmm. I can't comment on bluetooth because I use infrared to link my TX to the phone. My phone doesn't have bluetooth :-)
But yes, MobileSMS is completely stable on my TX. I've used it it in three machines: the m125, the T|E and now the TX with no problems whatsoever.
MobileSMS will show you the name of the person who sent the SMS together with the date and time. It's superior to the built-in SMS software, which only shows the number.
