I used to own a UX50, but I broke it trying a mod :(
The UX50 is a great device, and I miss it. I am using a VZ90, which has an amazing screen and battery life, but that's it. UX50 had so many more features, and with the EB40, the only problem would be the screen. (it is small and dim)

1 - 1 + 1.8 so 1.8

LOL. I'll explain.

I had 1 then I broke it so I couldn't use it. Then I modded it to be 1.8 times that of the EB40 and gave my UX 4.6x the power than it originally had. Then I got tired of the bulky size and got a TX due to I spent so much money on my UX and my WiFi died. Other things I bought for replacement parts were broken and didn't work. I have 3 motherboards all of which are dead. One works but WiFi is dead. All this just annoyed me and I stopped purchasing UXs. My current UX has the mod on it but most of the batteries are removed because they were old and only worked for the first day. After that, my UX performed worse than it did without the mod because the battery meter altered from 100 to 80 to 90 to 50 to 90 to 30... you get the picture. Did this in less than an hour. Worthless. Others have been lucky. Now I'm a TX owner, who would have thunk it. I still miss the keyboard, and the feel of the UX. The TX feels like cheap plastic because oh wait, its made with cheap plastic. The stylus feels good though. My site is back up so you can read my review here...

Great to hear your site is back up JA! :D
The EB40 is a much-needed accessory. So if you can spend the money/find a good deal, I would get one. UX battery is only 800mAH, while my VZ90 is 2,500 mAH. With the EB40, it is around 2,400 mAH. Get the picture? ;)

I suppose the majority of you here don't have the Video Recorder or aren't familiar with it!

It also is a great accessory for the UX50... especially if you use the UX50 to view video's!

How about it... Does anyone out there own a Video Recorder?

Yea... its called a PC TV tuner. I use my $45 one to record family guy and it looks great. Its 3 yrs old btw and still works to perfection. Don't get the Sony Video Recorder, just a waste of money. You can get a better TV tuner for less.

JAm, the more I hear about your EB 1000 :) the more I get the impression it's related to bad connections. Did you ever get to solder the connections you made? Sorry to side-track, it just sounded wrong not to suggest a simple measure like this to improve your perception of the UX50/ EB 1000. If you remember, my charging leather case mod has been doing perfectly well for me. It's a total of over 4000mAh, lasting too many days to count, even with heavy WiFi and BT usage, I admit that it adds a little bulk (and 2 oz to the weight) but to me it has been worth the trouble. And hey, it cost me less than $40 (I already had the leather case).

monkeyboy did a very simple and reasonably effective one too.

I keep an eye out for the VR100K periodically but I doubt I'll ever be getting one - check this out from this weekend: Ebay yadda yadda (http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=8831145762&rd=1&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT&rd=1)
