I have a T5 which seems to be completely dead. I have tried all the resets known, including the zero out reset involving the HotSync button.
It's so dead, I can't even tell whether it is charged or not - I've had it charging for several days.

The T5's been in storage a for a few months, but it used to work as I upgraded the ROM shortly after purchase.

What options do I have now? Is it worth taking the back off to see if the battery is dead?

Thanks,

Andrew

If i were you, I would try to take it apart and disconnect battery for a few moments and then reconnect it back. I know, that your device is NVFS, but it means absolutely nothing, because this procedure just somehow sometimes works.

Small snag with disconnecting the battery - it appears to be soldered to the mainboard which makes it difficult to detach.

I suppose I could try and discharge the battery with a resistor. A 50 ohm resistor would discharge at about 100 mA which I would think the battery could take. I might have some LEDs at home which would also do the job.

But maybe it really needs 0 V on the mainboard to reset. Do I have to get the soldering iron out?

Any thoughts?

Well, I managed to get it working, though more by luck than by design. After taking the back off successfully and then I was fiddling round with my AVO. I tried measuring the voltage on the battery when it was not charging and when it was charging and then, as if by magic, it turned on.

No idea what the problem was, but it's back together and seems to be working ok.

If it was in storage, then it takes a long time of charging before it responds because the power goes to the battery until it has enough to begin powering the machine.

You might be right, but I'd had this thing charging over a weekend before I started fidding. Anyway, seems to be ok now. I'll just put it down to experience.
