View Full Version : Pings from the handheld resolve but don't come back!

Hi!
I'm using the Softick PPP + Bluetooth to acces the web. Using blazer, every site works fine.
Now, I tried to access my own computer using PalmVNC + UltraVNC on PC (checked, working). THe thing is that the palm cannot connect to the VNC...
So, I went and tried pinging from the palm (over network/log...), and NONE of the site return my ping. (Google, Microsoft, my own computer, etc).
But, when I enter "ping www.google.com" i get "pinging [123.123.123.1] ..." showing the correct IP from the site (so it gets DNSed), but the return never comes, as I get an error of "timeout".
Any clues as what might be going on?
Thanks in advance.

why does evryone make this mistake!
you do NOT need softick PP for this!
just get good BT drivers for windows (Widcomm)

As stated, I already have widcomm, but if I disable Soft. PP it just doesn't work.
How do you make it route using widcomm (without Softick)?

in widcomm enable BT lan service
it iwll make a new net adapter for u
in widnwos confiigure internet conection sharing (ICS) to share your primary connection with this new adapter
now all will work
this is how my z72 used to connect to the net

Oh yeah, that worked in the first place too! And you don't even need widcomm, just could use any other BT stack (MS, BlueSOleil, etc).
But I don't (and cant) have the Firewall / ICS XP service enabled, so I went and install Softick.
In any case, returning to my original question... what's about the ping? Why the IP gets resolved but the packets that answer never get to the palm? :(

I assume Softick won't route ICMP. It didn't accept incoming connections neither until latest versions.
You could try windows Bridging to do the job too (free), or even setup colinux (overkill, free). There's also WinRoute and some other paid solutions.

Oh...
So, is there anyway I can test my VNC / MobileMule / etc connections (LOCAL) using a Bluetooth bridge to my computer?
Gracias. ;)
