garnet has a few bugs extra, to make you feel worthwhile to have paid for an upgrade

Palm OS through 4 has the legacy PIMs. OS5 introduced the extended PIMs; Garnet added NVFS to the extended PIMs. Different devices have different add-on apps (and versions thereof).

Legacy PIMs: Palm OS 1 - 5.21
New PIMs: Palm OS 5.21 (Tungsten E, T3) and newer

Palm OS 5: Runs on an ARM processor instead of a DragonBall that Palm OS 1.0 through 4.X ran on.

Extended PIMs, a Palm (not PalmSource) value added feature, first seen on the Tungsten T3.

A question is, what is Garnet? Some places seam to use Garnet to refer to Palm OS 5.4, other to all of the 5.X series. Officially, it appears to be Palm OS 5.4.
