What is the final word?
Does the "old" Palm Wireless Keyboard work with the TX?
Are there good drivers and where do you get them?
Thanks

I just bought a new Wireless Keyboard from Palm, and it works pretty good with my TX. I like it very much, the drivers come with the package, in a cd, maybe they have them also in their website. I dont know what you mean "old" but the one i bought was the only one that i found for 50€. The TX wasnt listed, but several devices with IR were, so i decided to ask if it was compatible, they told me that every device with IR should work well. It works also with PPCs!

The one you (Church Punk) probably bought was the Universal Wireless keyboard (since it was a recent purchase). I believe MannyG is referring to the original (or at least pre-UWK) keyboard put out by Palm. I don't know, personally, as I have the UWK (universal wireless keyboard).

The old one is more or less compatible if you use the Think Outside Stowaway driver v4.0, but the UWK is a great match for the TX. I have both and like the UWK much better.

Thanks for the replies. I was actually going to bid on an old version (Palm Wireless Keyboard") on ebay. At the last minute I read some posts that were talking about problems with the drivers. At any rate, based on MarsGuy's comments I think I will be happier with the new version (Palm Universal Wireless Keyboard). It also has the addition of the top dedicated number row which the old one does not.
Thanks for the replies.

I bought my UWK off ebay. It was slightly used, came in original packaging (cut open), but still had that "new palm" smell. I think I paid about $15 + shipping for it. It was a place in Ontario that sells a lot of stuff under 5 or 6 different names.
And Palm has recently issued an updated driver (v1.13) to the UWK -

I'm using 1.10 with my TX and it seems to be working fine - so I am loathe to tempt fate (given Palm's recent success rate with software) and upgrade - but if you haven't yet installed a UWK on your TX, it may be worth a try...?

Well I'm feeling daring today :p I just downloaded and tried it out and v1.13 works great. I don't honestly notice any difference between this version and the previous v1.10 - but then again I wasn't having any problems with that version. This may well fix some issue that others might have had - it's worth a shot.
I saved a copy of the older version 1.10 incase I need to roll back and can't get a copy of it anymore.

It's just too bad that "Universal" doesn't mean it works with ALL Palm devices. Older devices with PalmOS 4 or lower will have to use something else.

I upgraded to 1.13 and didn't notice a difference. I think it was merely an update for compatibility with the 700p.

My Keyboard is sitting at my house in Chicago (started a new job in OH last monday). My dad (who is staying at my house for training this week) brought it in from the mailbox. I got it from the staples free mail in rebate.

My v1.10 driver used to have issues when I activated the Energy saver. It would automatically shut off the Keyboard app when I turned it on. I never had the issue again. But it was weird when it did happen. I have not tried the 1.13 driver but will do so soon :). I love new drivers :)

Yes, I use it with success with my TX.
I had a problems with dedicated PalmOne driver (wrong shortcuts to applications like Calendar, Addressbook, etc - when You use "blue Fn" + shortcut combination). Now I use 4.0 driver from thinkoutside web site and all is working perfectly (driver has an option to remap shortcuts), also with Polish native letters (which as I heard is a problem with "new" Universal Wireless Keyboard)

Where did you get the 4.0 driver? I have the old Wireless keyboard with version 2.2 Palm driver. I am not a heavy keyboard user but wouldn't mind checking out the new driver...
