First I must say that I have been a LifeDrive owner for close to 1yr now and love the device for personal use, I have had little to no technical problems with my device and use it quite often for web browsing and multimedia entertainment. Now on to my main challenge, size. My previous device was a TT and I was a daily business user regarding calendar, tasks & contacts. Unfortunately I have been unable to incorporate the LifeDrive into my daily routine due to its size. Although its PMP functionality is great personally my main reason for owning a PDA over the course of the last 12 years is business related (with some personal functionality). I have come to the decision that I must get a different device so I am not always tethered to my Laptop/Outlook to keep track of everything conveniently.
I have read many messages related to the LifeDrive and TX regarding their benefits and issues but now reach out to any owners of both devices to get a summary of your thoughts & your likes/dislikes of each model. My goal is to purchase a smaller PDA within the next 2 weeks and put my LifeDrive on the market.

Thanks in advance for any comments or advice you can give regarding the TX and LifeDrive functionality comparison.

LD: larger capacity, sturdy metal shell, nicer buttons, external button for landscape/portrait, voice recording.

TX: somewhat flimsy shell, flatter case, no lag what-so-ever

If I was looking for a LD replacement that I can carry in a shirt pocket, I'd buy a TX for sure. The only off putting thing would be the TX's plastic shell and smaller capacity now that I've been spoiled on the LD.

Atraum--Have you tried a belt clip? I carry my LD everywhere with it on my belt. Geeky--yes, handy--yes.

If you want basic PDA functions (no WiFi, 160x160 color screen, no SD slot) in a small size, the best Palm for that is the z22. My wife owns it and finds it emminently easy to carry.

Also, to add to what tomlouie said

LD: Lifedrive manager and drive mode (I use them heavily)

TX: more stable, smaller, thinner.

Try a different carrying case? I stripped the paper and rings out of the organizer I bought from Barnes and Noble. The leather, zip-around, case is then a perfect fit for the LD.

I own both a Lifedrive as a TX. I must be honoust that I use the TX as my main PDA. For the next reasons:
1: Versamail and blazer are more stable
2: WiFi software more stable
3:TX Snappier and faster when switching apps
4: Smaller to carry
5: better batterylife

Reasons why i could prefer a Lifedrive above a TX
1: 4 gig of memory
2: Better solution for PMP
3: Out of the box Card Reader, portable hard disk.
4: Better attachment handling in Versamail. Attachments are direct saved in map: "Versamail Attachments"
On TX you can also accept files, but jpeg or other images you can only view in the small preview screen.
On LifeDrive you can save it to the hard disk and view it with the Media App. On TX... not...

I still sometimes try to switch back to the LifeDrive because i really like thge design and the possibilities,,, but always after 1 week of usage it drives me nuts and i switch back to the TX.
I dont use any cache program like Resco Locker. The tend to improve the speed on the LD.
I hope you can make your choice.
