Is my battery broken?

I bought a shop-soiled NX70 from a store where it was behind a glass cabinet in the charger, charging. Going by some of the files it could have been charging 24/7 for a few months

Do you think this could have damaged the Clie battery in any way?

The only way to tell is by how long it will hold a charge and how long it will run before needing a recharge.

Clie run time is 2.5 to 5 hrs depending on brightness level.

Is there anyway to turn off the "Auto-off" feature. or at least increase it to something more than 3 mins?

Yes, there a number of freeware apps. I have "Atool" found on Palmgear and also a shareware app called "Energy Dimmer".

Well... NX have the power control feature (there is a chip that controls that), even if you leave in the cradle for an extended period of time, once the battery is full, the chip will just cut off the power completely.
