well, i am using a nec mobilepro 780 for internet through a free isp, and wow, i think i need a wifi card for this thing. its a shame really, i thought this would be great for instant messenger but i gueess i was wrong... but damn, dial up is sllllow, even on 1 src mobile...

Dialup is much faster now than when I started using it at 300 baud.

dial up should be fine for msm i used for 3 years no problem. even did voice chat. Wi-fi is far better if you can get it.

my gprs connection is 56kbs, very similar to dialup. i have no problem with chatting, retrive (text) mails (with no attachments) and surf to mobile sites (yahoo mobile, 1src mobile etc.)

Maybe it's the free ISP that you're using that's 'slow'. Have you tried a different dial-up ISP?
