Using Clie NX70, WL100 card, Clie Mail, POP3 mailbox

Is there a way to configure Clie Mail to NOT load attachments by default? Or at all?

Using the receive options choice, selecting Retrieve lines/ Headers+Bodies and selecting 0 (zero) lines, the application still appears to to grab the whole message with attachments before deciding how many lines to display. I have 3.5 MB free RAM, and several times my e-mail will have larger attachments than that and fill RAM during download (and if this is the first message, I never get to see the other ones). I would much rather it just tell me that attachments are present and give me the options of downloading them with the next scan (as it can with message text itself).

As a workaround I have been using a telnet client to go to my account on the server and check with PINE, but that is really an ugly kluge, while Clie Mail in every other respect works quite well with the NX70.

Eudora Mail has an option to download header information only and then on subsequent downloads grab the rest of the message if asked, but it does not handle attachments at all.

Freeware (Clie Mail, Eudora) solutions are preferred; but I'm open to others.

Thanks in advance for suggestions.

Try iambic mail, it deletes attachments and strips out html.
