I second the Bhajis Loops suggestion. I own Bhajis Loops and it's really a remarkable program. I think it's perhaps my favorite Palm app of all. I haven't seen ANYTHING yet for the Palm that comes close to what this app can do, as far as music creation tools go.

miniMusic's Note Pad (http://minimusic.com/software.html) is probably what you're looking for. You can input the notes including eighth notes, slur and many other notations.
I purchased it (not cheap) but it works very well and I love it.

Bhajis Loops is awesome, but it isn't quite what I want. I haven't looked at Minimusic yet, but 30$ bucks is pretty expensive. Thanks for all the help!

NotePad might seem expensive, but I have been using it for years now, and it has been worth the expense. The guys at minimusic are currently working on the next version which will be a great improvement on the current one.
It is also worth considering buying their SoundPad application if you want to design sounds for Notepad.

I did try it once. Is it OS 5 compliant now?
