Sync over wifi

I would like to set up my dad's TH55 to sync over wifi (and the home wlan). I know how to set up the computer. What I don't know is how to set up the PDA. When I want to make a new connection the only connectivity options are IR, BT and cable.

Great question! I used to do this with my Tungsten C, and just bought a TH55. I hope someone can provide the answer.

It can be done but I forget how. I used to do it a while ago.

From memory it has something to do with putting !! before your info in one of the dialogue boxes. I know that's not much help but it may just help someone somewhere. I'm pretty sure a good scour of the forum or the web will yield the answer, but remember the !! thing......

Thx! I didn't imagine it to be so much harder to do than on my LD. But I gues, when the th55 came out this feature wasn't so important.

Check page 138 of your Clie TH-55 manual (also called Handbook by Sony).
If you do not have a hard copy, I'm sure you can find the PDF of it online.
Just remember to set the Primary PC on the Clie as !! nothing else works.

Also keep in mind, while you can now hotsync from another room, it is a LOT slower than connecting to the cradle.

For using wireless hotsync since about a year, I can say it is slower but NOT **that much** slower than connecting to the cradle.
Personally I'm still amazed at how fast it is, considering the "look mom, no wires" factor ! :eek:
