View Full Version : clie wifi signal strength meter?

How far can you go with your wifi? Comparing to a wifi card on my laptop, clie wifi card seems to have a significantly shorter range. It's hard to tell whether it has enough signal strength or not.
It would be nice if Sony could include a signal strength meter in their next release of the drivers... while they are at it, wifi network browser/sniffer if possible ;)
There aren't any 3rd utils that show such information, are there?

Unfortunately no, here again, Sony doesn't release the API's!
Hmm, I thought the range was rather good on my Clie and when the WL100 was used in a laptop, it had better signal readings than Belkin or Linksys around my home.

Truth is, samsitedesigns should be removed from this thread. for all who wish to know, clicking on the above link will take you to a different site that has nothing to do with wireless networking. akfreas was right. that was dirty trick. DO NOT CLICK ON THE LINK!!!!

He's done that on many, many threads in the past 30 minutes. Remove him from cliesource!!!

no, that would be too easy. i just submit a report at outwar.com about his cheap way of recruiting. it looks like he gets points for getting people to sign up as his thug through that link.
i just hope that both cliesource.com and outwar.com remove his account.

Doubt you will see a wifi stumbler for palm anytime soon for the same reason intel cards don't work on laptop netstumbler. Pop your Sony wifi card in a CF adapter stick it in your laptop, & fire up Netstumbler and see what happens. Then read the netstumbler site info on why it's not supported.
All that said if someone makes one I'd pay good money for it.

Hi,
I dowloaded from Intel the drivers for the 2011B Lan Cf card (real name for Sony WL-100 Wifi-fi card) but it appears this driver is for Pocket PC. I have a PCMCIA adapter for compact flash and I'd like to use my WL-100 in my IBM laptop (running Win2k). Any clue what driver I should be using ?

The link below is for the desktop PC's

I am sure you have to download the Win2k driver and then download the update. It has worked for others.

I don't think anyone will argue with that, it's too bad there wasn't something similar for the Clie.

Maybe the UX sniffer app will work. It does seem to have a signal meter (see picture):
