I don't know what everyone talking about when they say the T665 has a bad battery life. I've been running with full backlight and I've never been below 70%. I use it tons, but it never gets as low as some people say. Why does everyone say the T665 has a bad battery, I think it is just as good as my SJ22 battery.

Compare to my old T615c, it's better !!! May be the battery of my old Clié has got a problem... but for me, it was normal as I read everywhere in some post here.
Or may be some people has got a problem with their T665c 's battery !

People just like to crap on the T665 battery, mine is great, I use it for 2-3 days (heavy use with mp3's) then throw it in the cradle. Who can't put the clie in the cradle every couple of days!!

No problem with mine. I try to never let it get below 60\5. Use the backlight all the time. Use it all I want and charge it every night. It only takes an hour or so to top it off,

I agree with you people, the T665's battery isn't THAT bad! It's just that compared to other 'select' PDA's, the battery life is considerably shorter. Try putting it head to head with an SJ33...

I would rather have my remote commander than better battery life, but maybe that's just me;)

Mastervec,
What do you use the remote controller for? serious question, I have no idea.
Second, how many songs does the MP3 player hold? and do you happen toknow if it syncs with a Mac for Mp3s?

I have certainly noticed the 665's battery running down a lot faster than my Vx. I could easily go a week or two without recharging my Vx, although I would never want to go that long because I'm always syncing.
On the other hand, I have a hi-res color screen, double the memory, and a 128 mb MS in it. On balance, I think it's a good trade. I use my remote control feature, but it's basically a toy, and I would definitely trade it (or the MP3 player) for longer battery life (not that that's even a possibility).

When I first bought my T665, I also picked up the USB cable and adapters that'll charge anywhere in the world. If I were wandering the wilderness, then the battery life might be an issue, but let's face it, most of us are within "feet" of the nearest possible charging source. I'm surprised Sony doesn't include this as standard equipment with all their Clies. I charge at any PC with USB, or in my car while I drive anywhere, or at home while I play games, movies or music for hours! The only time my battery life has ever been low was when I let my daughter play Billiards unattended...so I plugged it in! The only PDAs with excellent battery life are low rez monochromes, or bricks. I love my extreme Sony; fast, functional and form factor. What's better?
Battery life is always going to be a suggestive thing when different people with different ussage patterns are making the comparisons. I like what was done in the SL/SJ forum, where a standardized test was done by a lot of different users. I'd really like to see some of you guys (& gals) with T665's to try the same program to time enough T665's to actually compare them to the SJ33. Here's the thread where members posted their SJ33 life's.

Even if it shows significantly less battery life for a T665, it really depends on how we each use ours and how convienient it is to charge them. Battery life IS a big deal to me so it took a unit like the SJ33 to come along, for me to switch from a black & white Visor Pro to a color SJ33. I had sat on the color sidelines for quite a while, because I place such a high priority on it. Now that I have a SJ33, is it more life than I need? Yes in most cases. I rarely get mine below 60% remaining. It would be nice to know what that % would be like if I'd gotten a T665.

I use my remote for all the tv's in my house and vcr's, plus when I go to the dentist or hospital or whatever I am usually able to control their tv's (so not just a toy to me jmccullough).
On my 128mb purple stick I get 3 hours of music. I rip all songs @96kbs. Some people say the quality is horrible when it is that low, but I hear no difference. Sorry, but I don't know about the mac and syncing.

I did this test on my clie's so you all could compare, I have the T665 and the N760. Here are the results:
T665 (I had the brightness all the way down, contrary to everyone else, but I just did this cause this is how I use it):
4 hours 12 minutes and 24 sec.
N760 (brightness all the way up): 3 hours 28 minutes and 12 sec.
Guess my N760 battery is running a bit low?!! Oh well, still works.
I did this test and posted in that same thread.
The problem with not putting the backlight on full is you really can't compare your time against others who did run it at full. You are right though that most of us don't use full backlight. It would be nice to get some data at half and lowest settings. But the test is inconvienent. So I don't know how to get anyone interetested enough to run it multiple ways. I haven't even run the test myself.:(

I will run the test at full brightness and post tomorrow.

-k-, I did the test, and>> with full brightness I get 3 hours 7 minutes and 44 seconds.
Thanks Mastervtec!
So here's What I make of all the test numbers:
T665: Full backlight = 3.1 hr; Reasonable backlight = 4.2 hr
SJ33: Full backlight = 4.7 hr; Reasonable backlight ~ 6.4 hr
So if I only get down to 60% battery life on my SJ33 (typical weekend use, I charge it at work), if I'd gotten a T665, I'd probably be around 40% life by the end of the weekend. So maybe in my case, a T665 would have been a fine alternat.
My wife has a T615 and it seems to get really poor battery life. I wonder if the battery is smaller on it?

I have my cradle beside my computer and TV in my bedroom on my desk. I think I'm fine with charging it every day, even though when I get home from school, I'm now only getting down to 85% at full backlight (beam recieve is off).

I have no idea what the beef is with the 665c. I always keep my backlight at its lowest position (thats how i use it) and at medium brightness when watching Scrubs via Kinoma. All u people who always keep your screens at full brightness are slowly but surely killing your screens.

Very very very slowly "killing your screens", I would say you probably won't notice a difference until 5 years down the road, which by that time most people have moved on to better and *brighter* things :)
