Hi everyone,

Dmitry might be rewriting Veo's Photo Traveler drivers to be compatible with the current Palms (the TX at least) . However he needs a bit of assistance from someone with a T|T (Veo camera not required).

I need someone with a T|T to:

- perform a hard reset
- install the driver files from http://veo.com/Traveler_palm/drivers.asp
- hotsync
- download and hotsync a copy of Resco Backup'
- create a full backup of all the files on your palm.
- transfer your expansion card's Backup directory to your computer.
- email your backup directory to robitaille88@gmail.com

If anyone can help me out (ASAP), it'd be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I have a TE2 and recently purchased a Veo Photo Traveler in the hopes it would work (since apparently it can work with the TE). No such luck. Therefore, I'm quite interested in your efforts. I don't have a T|T, but please let me know if I can assist in any possible way. I'd be happy to do what you described above on my PDA if it would help.

Question: Is there a reason why you cannot do this yourself by installing it onto the Tungsten T Palm OS Simulator? I can see there might be reasons this will not work; but thought it might be worth a try.

Update: I now need someone with a Tungsten T|T and Veo Photo Traveler to:
- install the drivers from http://www.veo.com/ftp/travelpmv104.exe
- delete the "SlotDriver-sdsd" file from the Palm
- check to see if the camera is still functional (it should be, I just want to make sure)

And thats it! The absolute worst case scenario is a reset loop, and you're forced to hard reset (so be sure to back-up first).

Post in this thread, or email me at robitaille88@gmail.com ASAP if the camera still works after deletion.

as soon as you make a simulator emulate hardware precisely i will be more then happy to... :p

oh, and dont forget the complete simulation of the veo cam, to the bit precision please.

I agree the simulator definitely could not get you that far. I was just suggesting that the simulator might have gotten you as far as robitaille88 suggested in this first post. However, at this point it apparently does not matter, since you seam to have gotten past robitaille88's first step.

Best of luck.

I had a TT that I gave to a friend - I'm sure that I can borrow it for a while and get the files you need. Only thing is that I won't be able to get it until at least Wednesday 6/1. I have a T3 and a couple of old Sonys handy if one of those would work instead. Otherwise let me know if you think it can wait a few more days...

@PinCushionQueen: Do you also have a Veo Photo Traveller?

robitaille88, as I commented earlier, I DO have the camera, but I have a TE2. Would I be able to assist you, or must it be a T|T?

robitaille88 and Dmitry-- Regrettably, I wasn't able to get the drivers to work with my TE2. My first attempt was using the windows installer, which for some bizarre reason installed all 8 of the PRCs with the different languages. I then deleted the SlotDriver-sdsd file from RAM (original still in ROM). No success, upon putting the camera in, I received an "Unrecognized card: The device cannot recognize this card." In the Veo app itself, upon trying to take a picture, it says, "Error: Camera not present or camera error."

I also tried a second attempt, with a hard reset, and installing just the files of interest (Veo.prc, jcpalm.prc, jdpalm.prc). Same results.

I can also do what you requested in the first post, let me know. Hope this is helpful.

Edit: I realized that if I wasn't clear about it, I have yet to know if the camera hardware itself works correctly. I presume that my problems are software-only, but I haven't actually seen the camera function, so there's always the outside chance that the camera's a dud. Just so you know.

Bump - Anything else for me to do for you? I'm in the process of moving and will be packing my computer up soon.

This would be a highly useful peice of software for me, and I would purchase it immediately if released. I have a veo camera, but I don't have a tungsten T|T, I could possibly try it on a friends Zire 71, do you think it would work on that model?

@KProz: Yes, please do try it out on the Zire 71. Just make sure that during installation, when it says to hotsync, don't. Go into your computer's hotsync install folder and delete the "sdio driver" file (otherwise you palm will experience a cycling reset). Now go ahead and hotsync and see if the camera works :)

mm, sorry about the late reply, but my friend took his time in finding the old zire 71 (in his drawer of old junk). Also, the zire was suffering from the internal ribbon cable problem. Anyway, the veo does appear to work without hotsyncing that file, however it also appeared that the veo has the drivers for operation on the device itself and is able to load the drivers upon insertion. (I tried putting in the veo without installing the drivers first) I am not sure if it installs the SDIO driver when it does this.

Yea, theres definately some stuff stored on the card, as it has a capacity of 1.3mb. Looking at the files on the card using FileZ however, shows that it only contains Veo.prc. So, yes the camera works without the slot card driver.

The camera quality is very poor, I wished at least they released the 1.3MP one. There is still very little gadgets for SDIO slot. I wonder if linux on palm will solve that.

Also is it possible to change the BT radio in palm into Wifi radio? (some experienced soldering required)

robitaille88/dmitry-- Have you had any luck in updating the drivers for the Veo?
