There are just too many for palm os so which is the best? I have tryed few of them I don't remember which of them. Anyway I need one which let you create new txt which look good on computer (so lines will not be messed up of something like that), is free of course and supports hires+ 320x480.

Thanks

In my opinion SiED is better, the problem is the hires+, there is a beta that suports it but it is not working very well.

Give tejpwriter a look. Lots of extras and a thumbboard. Work great on TE but there are issues on the TH55.

Just tried it... and wow! Leaves the rest in the dust (except that it doesn't open/save docbooks, and it does line by line scroll instead of screen by screen).

Assuming you are talking about tejpWriter, the red dot @ the bottom right is between the single up/down arrow. If you have a 5 way button, double tap the center of the 5way to toggle the red dot to the double up/down arrows. Now the up/down is by screen.

Good luck and I recommend reading the whole manual because this feature had me going for a couple of days.

Sorry, but what is a 'docBook'?

DocBook refers to the Palm Doc files (as opposed to MS Word Doc files). I guess I should finish reading the manual though... the thing even has text conversion built in :D

I found one problem with the app though... I tried loading a 14MB file on my TX, and it went into a "Not Enough Memory" loop -- had to soft reset; however, it turned out to be an automatic hard reset (not sure why).

Read section 9 of the manual where the author talks about editing a 10.3MB on a T5 with 20MB free RAM. How much free RAM did you have? Theoretical limit is 250MB but read the manual for the 'rest of the story'. Sorry to hear about the reset.

Quote from the tejpWriter manual:

The File Limit
Roderick Young, who wrote the swapping system, making it possible to handle docs larger than 64kb automatically, says in the documentation that the theoretical maximum doc size is 250mb. But theory is theory, so I decided to find out the practical maximum doc size. To my disposal, I had my Tungsten|T5 with over 20mb of free RAM and a Lexar standard 512mb SD card. Starting with the biggest doc I had, 860kb, using XClipboard, I copied the whole 860kb into the clipboard. Then, by pasting it back 11 times, I, without any problems, produced a document of 10.3mb. I edited some of the text, navigated in it using the ‹Scrollbar›, saved it to the memory card first as a database, then as a text file, and last I loaded the database into RAM, then the text file. Yes, it all worked fine. Sure, it took a ‹long› time to load the text file to RAM, 45 minutes, but it worked!
But who want's to write a book that big?

End quote.

Best of luck to you.

Well, my TX has 64MB of NVRAM free, UDMH installed (so make that 20MB Heap) and 9MB DB Cache.

The problem for me happened when my DB Cache filled up, I think. It could be a compatibility problem with UDMH though, I guess.
