Any thoughts on which is the best?

Hmmmm...neither fills all of my needs (ie wants). Versamail allows filtering into folders on my Clie NX70, but does not take advantage of my full screen. Plus it is expensive. Snapper Mail is pretty, but does not filter emails into folders. (I can't remember if it used the full screen or not.) And Clie Mail does that awful HTML thing sometimes when I do a wireless mail check. (No clue as to why or when...not all emails are messed up.)

So...I have found Eudora for the Palm which is free. http://www.eudora.com/internetsuite/  And it allows for filtering of emails into folders. It doesn't do the weird HTML thing. Drawback is...it doesn't use the full screen. As it stands, I'm waivering between CLIE Mail and Eudora. And Eudora has a slight lead simply because I really like the filtering option probably a little more than the full screen use. Wish they could just get it all together.

Has anyone tried Versamail 2.5...
If you have, how is attachement support? Can you download MSOffice files and Acrobat .pdf files?

Speaking of trying... there seems to be no trial or demo version of Versamail. At least I cannot find it. :( It's a bit too expensive to just buy it and see if it works. ;)

In another thread (http://www.cliesource.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=10951) somebody said that Versamail 2.5 supports IMAP via SSL. Has anybody tried it out? E.g. IAMBIC claims to be able to do so too, but I wasn't able to make it work with my email provider.

I would be happy if somebody could answer my question and aarecordatis question from his own experience. :)

Apparently SSL is only available to OS 5.2 machines.... are there any yet?

SSL is something i really need for my work email.... I know Snappermail is working on implementing this function... but who knows when its going to be available.

As for attachements... I'm scared to try anything else but Snappermail due to its excellent attachement support... i wonder if Versamail is as good with attachements as Snapper is......

I just recently installed versamail 2.5 in my nx, and so far i have no complaints (appart fromt he obvious "why wont you use the whole screen isssue").

To answear some questions about attachments, ive tried word and excel documents attached to mails and it succesfully converts them to dogst to go format (this can be set in the pc conduit in the case you use QO7 and DTG)

i havent tried pdf's thats why i cant really say anything in that field.

it does support ssl.

hope this works...

You may want to try CodeDiver (available at Handango) to see if it can "force" VersaMail to full screen. SnapperMail is also written only for 320x320 but, with CodeDiver, it works flawlessly at 320x480.

Unfortunately, CodeDiver doesn't work on Eudora.

Seph, thanks for answering some questions. It's good to hear that from somebody who actually tried it out. :) A question that remains for me is whether Versamail 2.5 supports IMAP via SSL? Did you try that too?

Does this include Versamail?

I don't know what will happen after 30 days but $10 isn't all that much for a program this useful. BTW, excellent tips on using CodeDiver can be found in the following thread (http://www.cliesource.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=3389).

I just tried Codediver with SnapperMail. It did make SM full Hires+ but when I extend the Graffiti to write something it just crashed with "memory allocation error".
Did it happen to you?
Thanks.

I've never encountered such a crash with SnapperMail on my NX70. The only (minor) problem i've seen is that the To/From/etc. labels disappear when extending the graffiti while editing. If the problem persists, one possible workaround is to use Graffiti Anywhere to write your messages.

Snappermail should be out in the summer with ssl support. At least that is their goal.
