Being that I am in a good mood, I'll respond to this:

Do a search of the archives. This has been discussed to death.

But consider the mispelling of Datebk and how hard a search would be....

there's this thread (http://www.cliesource.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=10456&highlight=Agendus+vs+Datebk) and this thread (http://www.cliesource.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=8302&highlight=Agendus+vs+Datebk) or this thread (http://www.cliesource.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=2614&highlight=Agendus+vs+Datebk) or even this thread! While I too am tired of seeing the same questions asked over and over again, I have to admit that there are some GOOD reasons to ask yet again, despite the threads available in the archives.

The biggest is probably that many programs, particularly these two, are regularly updated. So discussions of drawbacks, bugs, features (or lack of them), etc. may be very outdated and less than helpful when attempting to make a decision about the latest release of a program.

For instance, when I went through this process several months ago, I settled on DateBk5, and regularly recommended this program to others. However, I always admired the clean design of Agendus, and in many ways preferred that program. Once Iambic released Agendus 6.0 (now in version 6.02), it contained enough of the features I thought were missing that I switched over. Despite it being clearly less full-featured than DateBk5, it is now the program that I prefer in the overall package, and the one that I'm using now.

So I'm not so quick to jump on those who ask this question repeatedly...

Just try them both out! Its a grass is greener type of question. Everyone has thier own views on it. Both kick a@@ and I own booth. At the moment I am using Datebk 5

I have Agendus but am testing DBK5. I will say the high res icons are NICE! Also, DB5 seems to have the edge on options. You can change sooo much to fit your needs.

Agendus is my favorite app on my Clie T665C. I would save yourself some trouble and pass on their Agendus for Windows desktop counterpart. It has more bugs than Big Dismal Swamp!

Agendus cannot support hi-res icons soon enough . . . are you listening Iambic? I am able to use hi-res icons in Agendus 6.02 with X-Master and v3bHack, but I would very much prefer to not run hacks as I have replicatable issues with this hack. I'm willing to live with them while I await the hi-res supported update from Iambic.

I have demo'd Datebk5 and it does have more options to tweak, but the interface is boring compared to Agendus, and the extras are beyond my fairly basic calendaring needs. ;)

These are the two best calendar apps out there, so try them for the demo period and see which best meets your needs. I prefer DB5 myself.

One more for Agendus, hell I am even running the older version (to cheap to upgrade) and love it.

There's a good Datebk5 5.0c Preview 9 article written by Tanker Bob over at PDA Avenue:

Both applications have long demo periods, so you can try yourself what suits you the best. You can't really go wrong with either applications, which is why this thread comes up every once in a while.

I tried agendus demos in several versions but still stick to my favorite: DATEBOOK5. My most used Clie-Software!

This is what Tanker bob says regarding Datebook5, i have nothing to add:
At $24.95, Datebk5 is a steal and all proceeds go to wildlife conservation. I cannot recommend any application more highly than Datebk5!

Overall rating: 10/10 (Tanker Bob's only perfect score to date)

Been using it forever (really... since the Newton!).

I recently tried DateBK but didn't see anything I really needed that Agendus didn't already do. Agendus has the superior interface - very polished and good use of Hi-Res+ (except icons as noted earlier in the thread).

Datebk 5 all the way

My vote is for DateBk. The developer is super helpful. I had a glitch on my desktop which wiped out most of my addresses. Although it was not a problem with DateBk, CE Steuart Dewar replied and walked me through possibilites. I didn't get a response from Palm for over a week.

Plus Gorilla Haven has its first resident! Check here... http://www.gorilla-haven.org/

Did I mention free updates?:D

Hmmm... is it just me or has the thread now deteriorated into a pissing contest? Not that people are being negative, but it's now post after post of:

"DateBk 5 is better"
"No, Agendus is better"
"No, DateBk 5 is better"

Otherwise, most of the supporting points have been made already. As people have said before, they're both good. Just try them out and pick the one that best meets your needs.

Just my 2 cents on a gloomy Friday.

Over the last two months I have been trying out Agendus and Datebk5.

Advantages for Agendus:
o Simpler interface
o Nice Addressbook replacement
o Easier to change displayed category

Advantages for Datebk5:
o Can link todo's to multiple entries. Agendus only lets you link to one address book entry. I have datebk5 entries linked to 5 address book entries, 3 memos, and 2 notes.
o Can select multiple categories to display simultaneously.

I suspect that when my demo runs out I will pay for datebk5 - unless I find something better before then.
