Anyone know if there is a way to underclock UX50 to fix my screen whine  ? Warpspeed "Fix Screen whine" option doesn't support UX50 :( .

I don't think that underclocking will fix thewhine it's the overclocking which seems to do it. I'm going to guess it's because it changes the frequency the screen cycles. The only other option I've seen for fixing the whine was a post someone madewhere they actually opened the screen up and using layers of tape I believe it was put pressure on the screen and virtually eliminated it. It would be nice though if there was an overclocking option for the UX, another 30-50mhz I think would make movie playback on the acceptable level at least for me :)

Get yourself a good screen protecter. Seriously, it works, and is by far the cheapest and most reliable fix.

Adding a screen protector helped me. The whine is still there, but when I take the protector off it's definitely louder.

the "Pelican" brand ones made for PSP that "Gamestop/Gamecrazy" work fine if you are in a bind. Just gotta cut-to-size.

I've employed a manual fix before and it worked but soon after I blew up my ux50 not exactly sure what is wrong with it. Sent it to sony and they said i had buggered the screen they then contacted me a few days later and said it was the main PCB. I think sony tried to screw me over I just think its the LEX50 (i think that is the powersupply for the screen) and sony are trying to cheat me... anyway what ever the case, go with the good screen protector.
