Hi,
This is my first post :)
I am currently using a T5 and I was wondering if there is any
software that can do automatic soft reset at a particular time.
I am having a strange intermittent problem where the alarm
does not startup. But once I on the device, it will then sound.
Have tried it with Datebk5 and WatchMaker but this strange
problem still persists.... Doing a soft reset thus solve the
problem but only temporarily. Hoping that a daily reset
will "cleanse" the system somehow ...
Thanks!

I use a combination of 2 apps to schedule soft resets. mReset, freeware, will reset your PDA, and 2PlayMe is an excellent scheduling app - well worthe the money. You could use crony 3.0 to schedule (freeware), but I can't use it because I found it didn't work on a TX (causes instability issues with the TX's implementation of NVFS).

cyberdude: BTW: why don't you use the Softreset from 2PlayMe instead of schedule mReset? I wouldn't expect any difference but maybe there is one?

A few reasons. When I first set up my scheduling I didn't know it was there, I already had mreset on my system and knew it worked, and finally I was a little turned off from using the special functions when the off function turned the unit off, but wouldn't trigger OffFlush. I found that there are a few apps, like off-it that will turn the TX off but will not trigger OffFlush, I use the Sleep app from My Hardware Button collection - which does trigger OffFlush. I always assumed that turning the TX off was a simple thing, but I guess I was wrong. I will try the softreset option in 2PlayMe, because it seems to me that a reset is a reset.

Well, about the turn off. I guess OffFlushes looks out for the power-key or some power down char going through the system. 2PlayMe just calls SysSleep, which is marked as system use. Enqueue the power key might also work, but at the time I looked out for a way to power off the device, I didn't thought about. I might change it in the next update. Anyway softreset: there is only one documented API call for it :-)

I suppose you could look at the code for OffFlush or Sleep to see what event they are trapping. Anyway, you should know that 2PlayMe is an excellent app. I originally got it to schedule resets and turn offs, but now I use it for a lot more, thanks for a really handy app! :)

cyberdude: You're welcome. I've just changed the way 2PlayMe switches off the device. Wanna try it? Just send me an email :-)
