Happened to download from your download page to check and I saw the file was just updated. Hehe. :p

Gavin, is the reg. code the same as 1.4.1?

pocketscience

Yup, same reg codes.

DanT

Thanks. Yes, the reg. code was recognized automatically w/o re-entering. That is nice. It would be even better if we can just install the new version over the old one and be done with it. I tried that and the HotSync would not let me, so instead, I had to uncheck the Command Bar Launch, delete v.1.4.1, install v.1.4.2, re-enter all of the prefs, radar, and launch pad settings.

The up/down scrolls launch pad is a cool addition. For us with Jog-Dial option though, the jog dial is doing the same thing as the up/down. So if I want to see the next day I have to tap the "T" (for Thursday) button on the top bar. But that's OK since I don't use it often anyway and I only use Wassup just for today most of the time.

Gavin, if you can separate the up/down button from the Jog dial in the next version, as you mentioned in the email, that would be nice.

DanT,

I think all you had to do was uncheck the Command Bar Launch. Don't think you had to uninstall. This version still has display problems with long app names in the launcher. They run over each other.

I had no problem simply installing the new .prc over the old one. Launch bar converted just fine! ;)

It sounds like I have something flaky in my Clie system. I'll try to just uncheck the Command Bar Launch next time (with v.1.4.3, :)) and see how it goes.

A couple other strange things (I hope it just happened on mine) are:
1. Appt. Ticker is only scrolling 1 appointment although I have two.
2. Disable buttons when off is not working. :(

Added free memory display of external card is cool. :)

The don't turn on with hardkeys is a cool improvement too. :)

Hmmm, it actually works for you, huh?

DanT,

I use SlowLaunch to assign DAs to the hard buttons as second apps. If is hold down the button long enough to activate SlowLaunch, it stays on until I exit the DA, then it turns off. If I just tap the button normally, the default app flashes on then off again. I believe I remember you saying you use Easy Launch, which works similarly. Maybe that is causing your problem with the Wassup option to disable hard buttons.

One thing that is a little weird, the status of that option doesn't take effect until the second time you press the hard button. In other words, when I first elected that option, the hard buttons still turn the Clie on. Next time I turned the Clie off, pressing the hard button just flashed the default app, then turned off.

Sebring, thanks for the comment. I disable EasyLaunch and it still doesn't turn off. Oh well, it's not a big deal to me since I don't have that accidental power-on problem any way.

First WorldMate starts howling at the end of HotSync, then free memory display starts to fluctuate, and now this. So far, I still can live with these weirdnesses, if they get worst, I'm going to restage the Clie from scratch again.

I can't seem to get the scrolling launcher to do anything.

Where is it and what is it?

DanT

You need to go to Menu, Options, Prefs, Launch, and put a check on "Up/ down scrolls launch pad" at the bottom of the "Setup Launch Pad" screen. Then exit (OK twice). That works for 320x320 screen. I don't have 320x480 so I can't tell you what that would do to it.

The option basically utilizes the up/down hard button (and Jog-dial for Clie) to scroll from the first 5 app icons to the next 5, instead of tapping on to the little up and down arrows on the right side of launch pad. For those with VG down, this option may be useless since you can see all of the 15 app icons all in the screen.

Does anybody have lockups and soft reset since using Wassup 1.4.2 on a TG50? I am still not sure if Wassup is the problem or something else. Therefore I am asking...

I think there is a conflict between JackFlash and Wassup 1.42.
I can't get it to work without FatalErrors and JFlash bunnies appearing on the screen. I think Gavin thinks I'm nuts.
alan:(

My JF bunny seems happy to see Wassup 1.4.2. No problem what so ever. No resets. The next appointment due counts the time correctly.

One thing strange that I just notice in the last 3 days since I installed 1.4.2 is the free RAM is steadily going down again from 2.0 to 1.4MB. I have done nothing to the N760C since upgrading Wassup from 1.4.1 to 1.4.2. Then again, my Clie has been doing strange things lately, so anything I said should be taken with a grain of salt.

Hey guys, it's almost Easter, bunnies are supposed to start appearing.:D

When I check the Command Bar option, Wassup seems to interfere with my scheduled backup and it doesn't start until I first turn my Clie on in the morning. If I leave it unchecked, my schedule backup goes off as it's supposed to.

DanT, one thing I noticed is, if I launch an app using Wassup, that is on MS and it's data file is in my MSMount directory, a copy of the app stays in RAM when I exit it. All other apps seem to launch fine, even the ones on MS. This causes my RAM to go down, but I also lose exactly 18k of RAM everytime I run Wassup.
It come back with a soft reset, as you have observed.

DanT

Let me see...., tap Backup, Menu, Options, View Log,...and... nope. I had no problem with mine. The log says "Backup 4/18/03 12:00 am" as it is supposed to do.

The delay scheduled backup only happened to me once when I did not acknowledge an evening alarm before the scheduled backup taking place. The action is basically put on hold until I acknowledge the alarm.

DanT,

See my edited post above, regarding the memory leak. I lose exactly 18k of RAM each time I run Wassup.

Maybe the backup problem was related to an alarm. I try that. Thanks for the suggestion.

DanT

Hey Sebring, that is one good observation. I'll try that and see what happens. I mentioned this memory leak problem as 1.4.1 issue, but no one responsed back so I thought that is just on my Clie. With 1.4.1, a soft reset will cure the Alsheimer. I won't do that yet with 1.4.2 and curious to see how worst can it get down to. As of this moment, mine went down to 1.3MB by just playing around with Wassup.

Here is another similar Wassup anomaly. Since you also have MegaLauncher (ML), try the following:
1. Launch any apps that reside in MS from Wassup launch pad.
2. Go to ML 'Unfiled' category and see if the icon pops up there too.
This happens to me each time. However, it magically flashes away later on, somehow. The free memory does go down each time this happens, as you pointed out previously. Basically, if I look to ML after launching the app, now I have two apps of the same one (e.g., PhotoStand), one is in assigned category (CLIE), and another one in the Unfiled category. Interesting, huh.

sebring

I currently keep ML FlyZipped and on my MS (so I don't have to re-categorize everything everytime I want to play with it). I'll give it a try, all these anomalities kinda sound related.

DanT,

It does the same for me, using ML. If I tap the icon in the unfiled catecory, I get a crash. I'm still waiting for the icon to disappear. Actually, it does the same thing in ZLauncher, I just hadn't noticed, except in the case of app that had DBs in my MSMount directory. Wassup definitely has a few bugs that need swatting.:(

Alright, for once I'm barking at the right tree. Thanks for your comment.

I'm down to 1.2MB now, but everything else is still cool. No crash (fingers crossed)

Don't let anybody see you barking at trees, they may not let you run loose anymore.:D

:D
Very funny. My backyard is all covered up. The only ones seeing me doing it are my dogs, which are happily joint the actions.

Finally something did happen to my Clie. When I launch McPhling, the window freezed and show white screen where it supposed to display the 14 apps. The strange thing is after a soft reset, launching McPhling over Wassup screen is alright. This white screen display only happens when I launch McPhling on the ML screen. Hard reset here I come.

My memory goes down too using wassup - and as said I've got lockups and fatal alerts after installing 1.4.2. I removed wassup and everything is fine again. Gavin, are you reading or do I have to write an email to you? :)
