when you say 'movies' what do you mean.... have you used the convertor tool on your PC to manage this transfer or have you just moved any old format via MSImport?

I mean movies which i recorded from my palm and i copied the files to my laptop.
then i deleted my movie files in my memory stick in my palm and then just coppied from the laptop to the palm memory stick to the following directories:
/PALM/PROGRAMS/CLIE_Viewer and /PALM/PROGRAMS/MoviePlayer/100MQV01.
i was just trying to see if it worked but now i cant view those movie files

Usually, when people transfer movies from their Clie to the PC, they rename them from *.MQV to *.MOV to make them viewable with Quicktime. Did you do that? In that case you would have to rename them back to *.MQV before you can view them on the Clie again. :)

The movie files have to go in the folder /MQ_ROOT/100MQV01/ for the Clie Viewer/Movie Player to see them.

ok great...now i can see the files in the Clie_Viewer after i moved the files to the folder /MQ_ROOT/100MQV01/ but now i can't play them!! i says "Cannot play the selected movie. This format might not be supported."
but the file name is MOV00039.MQV. Please reply why!

These are the same files that were origanaly on your Clie? You just moved them to your PC and then back to the Clie? Did you do anything to change the files somehow?

no i dont think so cause i had like 11 movie files and now i can't open any of them now!
well i did rename the files to MOV00039.MOV to view them on my laptop after copying them from my Palm but i failed cause i said in Quick Time player that it does not support the format...so then i changed it back to MOV00039.MQV and put them back in the Palm and now i can't view it here aswell !!!

ok guys i just open the properties of the movie files and under Movie information, these are listed for the following file:
Title: ???
Duration: ???
Date: ???
Bit rate: ???
Dimensions: ???
File Name: MOV00039.MQV
Data Size: 1KB
hahaha..so i think all my files are gone and i can't recover them!! anyway out there to prove me wrong :D

you got the file from:
/PALM/PROGRAMS/MoviePlayer/100MQV01
and after you rename it, you put it to:
/MQ_ROOT/100MQV01/
am i correct? this is the problem, the files in
/PALM/PROGRAMS/MoviePlayer/100MQV01/
are not the movie files that you were looking for. when you copy it, you should get the file from directory
/mq_root/100mqv01/
the files in directory
/PALM/PROGRAMS/MoviePlayer/100MQV01/
have extension .MAI those are not the movie files.
so next time, when you move the file to you pc, move the files in the directory
/MQ_ROOT/100MQV01/
have fun

yes well that was what i was told to do or so i thought :D
so then anyway is there any hope of salvation for my files?
Now i have deleted all the files now from the /PALM/PROGRAMS/MoviePlayer/100MQV01/ and
/MQ_ROOT/100MQV01/
and just have those files in my laptop. can anything be done ? cheers!

check the size of your files on your computer, if the size is like 1k.... then you are out of luck.
Well, at least now you know for sure what directory contain the real movie file next time you copy it.;)
