nope..... only the Sony one will work (unless Ambicom supply drivers for the Sony version of OS5)

It's my understanding (after lots of reaing) that no CF cards will work without an additional driver. And there are very few drivers out there!!

Sony have written one for their own WiFi card, and theres the much-publicised CF memory card driver.

But that's it. I'm a Clie noob, but I'm fairly certain the short answer is "no". But with the work done on the 3rd party memory driver there is a hope that other drivers may become avilable in the future.

Well I would have to differ in my answer. I asked Pretec about their compatability with Sony Clie's with CF slots hinting at the CF memory already working and their response was...

----------------------------------
Hello Eduardo,

We have not done any first-hand compatibility testing with the Sony Clie NX70, but several of our CompactFlash cards that don't require special drivers should work with it. Below is a list of cards tested compatible with the HandEra 330 Palm OS PDA that very likely will also work on the Clie:

*Compatible (just plug and play)
CompactModem
CompactGPS
CompactFlash (storage)
CompactTrio (CF adapter for SD/MMC/MS)
CompactSSFDC (CF adapter for SmartMedia)

*Probable (may require additional 3rd-party interface software)
CompactLAN
CompactWLAN (802.11b)
CompactBT
CompactGPRS

*NOT Compatible (require proprietray drivers that do not support Palm OS)
CompactCamera (both VGA and 1.3 MP models)
CompactGPS-LP
CompactPresenter

Well he gave me no Yes answer, and did mention they had not tested but it sounded hopeful.

There is a generic modem driver that works for some modems, thanks to the translating efforts by Pelaca. There is some additional stuff on the Japanese market that are not available elsewhere.

With that being said, your answer is as indicated, no!

Pretec is making assumptions, so buyer beware!!!

Pretec's assumption is that you own a Handera 330, which does have a compact flash slot and the drivers installed to support some cards.

The NX does not have a compact flash slot (according to Sony) but a communications slot. As such no drivers are installed on the NX to read compact flash cards other than the Sony WIFI card.

yybb has three choices.

1) Wait for a driver to be produced for the Ambicom card
2) Buy a Handera 330
3) Buy a Sony WIFI card

Tend to think option three is the easiest.....

Thank you for replying. I'll go ahead return the CF card to BestBuy and buy the Sony one. The reason I hesitate to return is because the card only cost me $30 after rebate (original $80).
