When I get my Clie SJ33 do you have any starting tips for me, like what I should do when I first use it and what I should install?

Update your Palm OS and Kinoma on this site.
I don't want to come across as preachy. But be sure to charge your new SJ33 completely before you do anything with it. Fight the temptation to turn it on while charging. As it's been reported in other threads here, doing this will ensure you get the wonderfully long battery life that the SJ33 is known for.
As for what to load onto it, try searching this site with keywords for what you are looking to do. There are a lot of free programs out there. Many are better than some you'd have to pay for. When in doubt, post a question here.
What I loaded and use are not neccessarily what you'll want, since we all come from different interests and experiences. But here's what I have loaded in mine ("*" indicate a paid program):
Avantgo; Bejeweled; Bkgammon; City Time*; CityZen; Cribbage; Currency; DateBk5*; Docs to Go; Domino; Drawit*; FileZ; GolfGauge; GolfScore; HandyShpr; Happy Days; Hearts; Hungman; Keyboard* (I have a KB-11 keyboard); LendMate; Mahjongg2*; Manana; MathUPro*; MobileBdLt; Montana*; NoahPro*: Palm Reader (with the CIA Factbook on the MS); ParkingLot; Patience; Pgammon*; Pmines; Pyramid*; Quicksheet*; RJ45; SimpleChart; SpendLog; Strip (it's for storing passwords); SubHunt; SunCompass; TetAttack; TideTool; Tie; United (flight schedules); YAUC (units conversion); X-Master (for hacks)
The only hacks I use are: EasyLaunch; & MiddleCapsHack
So what do each of these programs do? "I'll leave that as an exercise for the student" (to quote one of my more obnoxious teachers in college.) If you go to a website like PalmGear.com, and search on the each name, you should be able to find 95% of these.
Hopefully now you won't have time left to spend being anxious for yor SJ33 to arrive!:)

You lucky little so-and-so, getting an sj33 when I am stuck here condemned to enlessly feeding AAAs to my Palm IIIe. Now $ony just needs to include a 128mb ms with the SJ33.

Also..I would look into a screen protector. Some people like them, others hate them. Search to find what might work for you.

That's normal, it won't say anything new untill it get's loaded on to a new truck and they scan it again.

same as the SJ33 except it has extended IR so it can act as a remote control for tv,vcr, dvd, amp. BUT, it has only half as good battery life. Though I like the body on the T665 better, being metal and all.

Umm... I didn't charge my SJ33 fully when I got it... I couldn't resist toying with it while it was charging... Is there a way to recover maximum battery life still? I though Lithium-Ion Polymer batteries didn't have the memory effect for charges... Please help.

If it was me, I'd back my data up (hotsync) and try running the program they talk about in this thread:

You can compare your battery life with others who posted there, to see if you lost anything. From what I've read here, it's only the firest charge that really matters. And not everyone who played with theirs had reduced life.
Best of luck!

I put this in anonther location, but suspect it might help here also. Go get the book "How to do everything with your Sony Clie', by Rick Broida and Dave Johnson." Published by Osborne ( division of McGraw-Hill ) This should give you all kinds of things to do with your new toy. :D

I've been toying with the idea of an SJ-33, but I use my folding keyboard with my Prism a LOT. I'm not clear from the information on the Sony site -- is the SJ-33 compatible with the KB-11 folding keyboard, or no?

Yes, the SJ33 works very well with the PEGA-KB11 keyboard. I have both. Unfortunately you have to buy this product from $ony (unless someone is selling one used on ebay). There is a targus one out there for a much earlier Sony model, which uses a different pined connector (I think it's 10 pins instead of the 20 on the SJ33 & "T" series).
There is a Belkin keyboard that is also designed for the "T" series (and as such, works with the SJ33). It's not quite a full keyboard size, but several users have posted they liked this one too. It's cheaper, and I think it may alow you to charge while using.
I went with the Sony one because I was used to the form factor and key feel of the Targus/Stowaway one for my Visor Pro.
