Ok, I am persuaded to buy a wifi card (WL100), but not for $16.99... How much I've paid for it is another story.

It is a luxury to be able to hotsync or surf the net in a bath tub or next the swimming pool. No, I don't have them.

I got a AP, a laptop and NX70 at home. Everything works fine as long as I am home. However, there is no AP at work or at a friend's place. My question is can I hotsync NX70 with my laptop through their wifi cards, i.e., like a crossed lan cable ?! If it is impossible, please forgive my ignoramce.

Thanks in advance

You can hotsync your NX with your laptop wirelessly without using an AP. It may not be the easiest this to do, judging by some of the posts around here lately, but it is possible.

What you're looking to do is connect two devices in "adhoc" mode, otherwise known as peer-to-peer. Do a search in the forums for adhoc and you'll see quite a few posts. Read them all. Most are very different from one another and they each contain some useful info for getting it to work. I was able to sync using my NZ90, AP, and wireless laptop in about 2 minutes (no exaggeration), however it took me several hours the next day getting adhoc to work in my office where there is no AP.

The most important thing to remember in setting up adhoc mode is to assign IP address statically.

Thanks Crash and UI018397.

I've got it to work both hotsync and surfing.

Yep, without a router, you need to use internet sharing on your laptop to get onto the internet.
