Does anyone know what file the Palm Hotsync settings are stored? Users are resetting the Palms in the field and losing all the network sync settings. My plan is to set up a Palm the way it should be in the field, pull the ROM and RAM and that write all that to the ROM. That way even when the user resets the Palm they will be able to sync to get all their information back.

Thanks,

Backup applications, especially when automated, are excellent for restoring away from computer. Take a look at Resco Backup.

Our users in the field sync to a network server in 1 of 2 ways. Either they use a cradle that is connected to a PC to sync to a server or they use a Ethernet enabled cradle. Either way, the Palms have to be configured with certain settings in the Hotsync application. Now when the user has a problem, such as a hard reset, all those settings are gone and now the Palm has no idea what to do. I have a way to write a new ROM to the Palm, but I need to know where the Hotsync settings are in the Palm so I can write those values to the ROM.

I am pretty sure that these settings are stored in unsaved preferences (use a file manager like FileZ or RescoExplorer).

Look under ID psys and sync.

My guess would be the "Saved Preferences".

I downloaded RescoExplorer and it looks like its under preferences. My next question is how do I get this off of the old Palm and onto the new Palm. You can only write prc's and pdb's to the ROM. Any ideas?

i think the network pref are located in "net Pref.pdb" and "NetworkDB.pdb".
