View Full Version : Need a new 'killer' app
OK, I'm starting to Jones for a new 'killer' app to make my handheld life complete. Is there any 'killer' app you use that I should be aware of? What's your favorite?
My current favorite is Agendus (really like having all PIM functions in one app). I've also finally got into reading ebooks and registered eReader Pro. And one of my most-used apps is Palmary Clock Wireless.
Does anyone else check PalmGear 3 times a day to see if new software has been released? :D

Does anyone else check PalmGear 3 times a day to see if new software has been released? :DI used to, but with a noticed slowdown in Palm software development, and what's left mostly oriented towards Treos (no offense Treo owners :) ), I don't go there for two - three days at a time now.

Agendus is one of my favourites.
Another one is Listpro, an outliner with columns. Palm & Win versions available

The only killer apps I loved where from Sony, clie organizer and the media launcher :). Wish there was a palm version of CO. Love the digital ink on the datebook and freenotes to :)
I think ListPro may be it! I think i could do many of the things i use Excel for with this. :D thanks!

Right now, Pennovate Notes is my essential app. It's a better version of the Palm Notes program, with an optional split overview, and it allows you to bind a key which toggles full screen drag-to-scroll when held down. On my Zodiac, I use the Right trigger for this. Nice feature is that it lets you store your notes as regular bitmap files on an expansion card.

I've been demo'ing that but find my handwriting is crap and though it is pretty neat it seems cumbersome to use in a meeting situation. Real paper just works 1000x better for me. I really like the app though. If I could get decent quality handwriting and be able to send off notes from meeting to collegues then it would make sense, but as it is I think I need a penmanship course :(
I might buy it if it gets discounted or on sale for $10.

I don't use it for taking notes, I use it for drawing diagrams and maps, but mostly just doodling.

Ah, for that I guess it is cool. My doodling happens in Agendus because I get multi-colors and can have them attached to specific PIM items. But no BMP support.
I can see Pennovate Notes being much more useful as a Notepad replacement as opposed to a meeting journal (which is what I was hoping to use it for).
I actually might buy Pennovate Notes, it's on sale at PalmGear for $15 :D

Too late ;) I already bought Pennovate Notes AND ListPro Professional. That's what I get for boring meetings at midnight with the the offshore team.

What does ListPro have that the freeware HandyShopper doesn't?

You can create a list with hiearchies, choose your columns' types and orders, basically make mini DB with lots of flexibility. I'm going to use it for collecting data with as little real writing as possible, so all the things that I repeat can be in drop-down lists. I'm thinking of even making 'mad-libs' type stories :D
HandyShopper is a great app but not as customizable or wide open to possibilities.

Thanks for the links, Franko515. This program looks really nice! Unfortunately, it doesn't appear to have an alarm feature, which is the primary reason I use the notepad. Too bad, this would be perfect then...

 OMG! I had no idea that notepad had an alarm feature! Thanks for the tip! Any idea how to change the alarm sound?

Pennovate Notes has a sister product called CalenNotes, which is a somewhat-improved Palm Calendar app with note taking ability.

I have tried Leonardo before, and it's a different class of application alltogether. Its focus is on vector drawing with layers, and while that's neat, it has an annoying habit of forgetting the 480x320 Zodiac screen mode whenever a dialog pops up.

You need to be outside of any one note (the view that lists all the notepad items). From there, the menu lets you hit options --> preferences, and there you can change the alarm.
I used to use Diddlebug long ago specifically for alarms (usually dumb reminders I don't want to enter into the calendar), but once I got a palm with notepad, it was no longer necessary...
