Anyone here have expirience with the iPAQ rx3115? I'm thinking of switching over to WM and want to no some opinions. Overall is it a good device? Hows the WiFi Range.
Thanks
I do not own an rx3115 myself, but I think there some things you might want to consider before buying it.
- It does not have and will not be upgradable to Windows Mobile 5, meaning you won't have persistent storage and all the new features
- It's an October 2004 device, therefore getting support from HP may be difficult
- It has a 300 MHz processor. While this is OK for Palm OS, Windows Mobile can have certain lags (especially when running low on memory)
- It has a 240x320 screen, so it's not the best device for viewing photos and videos
If you want a small, sleek and connected PDA, I recommend Acer's n311, which has 400 MHz, 128 MB of persistent storage, BT, Wifi, (but no IR), a VGA screen, Windows Mobile 5 and USB host. It should be in the same price range as the 3115.

Hi,
I say, if you are sure you are interested in a PPC, jump on the rx3115 for the $112.
It looks to be a good middle of the road PPC that will be an introduction to the format.
It is limited compared to some other units out there but for the price and considering it is your first, I would jump on it.
I really do not like to tell other people how to spend their money but, if I was in your position, I would do the purchase.
Let us know what you decide.

Yes, I think it's difficult indeed to find the Acer at that price. Given that I didn't find any sites offering the n311 at a "reasonable" price (that is, sub-200$), you should go with the 3115.

Hi,
firelord901, you are just all over the place in what PPC you want or are going to get.
In this and a thread on Aximsite, you have talked of getting 3 different ones and I am not sure if you are getting one just to say, "Hey! I own a PPC".
If this is the case, you will quickly get bored or frustrated with it and the purchase will just gather dust.
