Hey all,

I am the proud owner of a 4 day old Sony PEG-NX60 and I have some questions and some potentially useful information.

1) Regarding playing MP3's, I found this on Sony's support web site:

Follow this procedure to troubleshoot errors or issues on the handheld during audio playback.

Audio Player V2.0 or later must be installed on the handheld to play MP3 audio.
Audio files must be stored in the \Palm\Programs\Msaudio directory on the Memory StickTM media to operate correctly.
The Audio Player application supports joint stereo encoded MP3s with a sampling frequency of 44.1kHz and a maximum bit rate of 128Kbps.
NOTE: If using incompatible MP3 files, the handheld may stop responding, display an error message, audio will skip, or the audio files will not be displayed in Audio Player.

Perform a soft reset on the handheld.
NOTES:

When creating MP3 files using the RealNetworks® RealJukebox® application, click to clear the Secure my Music Files box to allow the audio files to play on the handheld.
MP3 files created using the RealNetworks® RealJukebox® application that are encoded under 96kbps will not play in the Audio Player software and may result in an error.
Variable bit rate MP3 files are not supported.
Note that < 96kbps is not supported.

2) Are there any 3rd-party MP3 players that will run on my NX60? Are any of them good?

3) Also, could someone tell me what the "CF Driver" application is? I am trying to learn about all the best applications to use and this was mentioned many times, but I dont' know where to find it or what it does. A quick PalmGear.com search didn't show anything.

Thanks,

Jeff

1)It is the way it is. Nothing we can do about it.
2)No, Sony doesn't tell the developers how to do sound
3) It's just a driver which allows the CF slot at the back of the NX to be used with CF memory. It's still beta so you won't find it on palmgear....

You can use bit rates from 96 to 320kbps for MP3's with the Sony Update Patch found in the Handheld support section, plus other updates.

I've gone as low as 32kbps. As long as you keep the audio at 44.1 kHz it should work between 32kbps and 320kbps.
