How about this red TH55? I got one for $265. See this thread (http://www.1src.com/forums/showthread.php?t=109345&page=3&pp=15). She will have bluetooth and speaks several languages English/Spanish/Italian, or Japanese or English/German/France, depending upon what motherboard I want to put on it. ;)

I thought you had a T|X.... Anyways, I wouldn't go with the rx3115, it's a samsung processor, not Intel, so some PPC applications will not work. Also, it's very boxy, and the circle d-pad is not good for games. If you don't do gaming or don't have very many apps, then you'll be alright. You can also get one from compuvest for 169 and they have them in stock.

It doesn't matter if it's Intel, Samsung, Texas Instruments, Motorola or anything else: They are all ARM processors and they can run all PPC applications.

What's funny is your completely wrong. It will run most applications, but there are some that require an Intel processor. Look at any overclocking utility. Trust me, I had a rx3715, you are wrong

Thanks for the info... I am probably looking for a gaming device, with media functionality. Ive been doing some research and I really am starting to think that the gp2x might be a cool gadget to have. I think I read somewhere that it technically is not even released in most parts of the world yet the homebrew community has already jumped on it like an injured deer :D. Plus the fact that it uses SD cards really makes me happy... I have an NX70v and difference in prices b/w an SD card and a memory stick is CRAZY!
The only thing that kinda bums me out about it is there's no wifi or bluetooth...

I would have to say the Sharp Zaurus sl-c860
and yes it is under $300
it has CF, and SD card slots. I use it everyday, to type on, listen to music, play Super Nintendo games, watch video, chat on IM, and browse the internet.

I know that. By saying "all" I was referring to all programs with the exception of those that require an Intel, but this is due to their technical nature anyway. Obviously, an Intel processor does not offer the same tweaking options as one made by Samsung etc.

Not what you said earlier, but we'll let it slide :)

Heya, GP2X is a wonderful device. It's quirks and bugs are still being worked out though but has improved quite a bit since it's initial release. I'd tell you to check out the community at Emuboard forums but the site is down

I still love my Sharp Zaurus but I wish it had built in wireless :(

Now lets say the Tapwave Zodiac 2 is the perfect PDA. Runs Palm OS 5, incredibly stable, 128mb of real RAM. 10mb of heap ram. 8mb of dedicated video ram provided by ATI's graphics chip. Videos look great on this sucker. Games are awesome. I did so much emulation on my Zodiac 1.

My old Zodiac 1 is on the right.

anyone here got expirience with a Toshiba E800? I'm tryin to find a handheld with a pretty fast processor VGA screen and WiFi for up to 225 if possible. Perferibly a Dell Axim x51v.

I personally did a lot of research on PDAs in general when I decided to choose a thumbboard-less device. These are the reasons I did not select the following devices and why I ended up with a palm T|X.

TH55: No Bluetooth. Bluetooth model extremely rare and expensive. Slow processor for gaming. 32MB of application storage.

Zodiac 2: No WiFi. Non-Professional Looking (being that I'm going to college, I wanted something with a little bit more of an adult look).

Zaurus SL-C Series: No Built-in Wireless; Expensive; SD card slot supports up to 1GB; Bulky

In my opinion, the T|X wins over these devices because it has what these devices do not have and is cheaper than each of these devices (except the Zodiac 2). If the Zodiac 2 had WiFi built-in, I might have gone that route. I do find the TX to be unstable most of the time and crashes randomly but I've been able to contain most of the sources of errors.

The reason I didn't get the Dell Axim X51 is because I like the Palm OS and the community, my friend already has it, and the buttons and 5-way is really small.

thanks for the positive words about the gp2x, it seems like its something different that no one has... I heard that although it boasts video support for avi, xvid, mpg and wma it actually only supports avi and xvid. Is there any validity to this?

Also whats the battery situation? Does it NOT come with an AC adaptor? It takes 2 AA's but I heard that rechargable ones should only be used, does this mean that the batteries can be charged with an AC adaptor or do they have to be taken out in order to charge? On liksang.com they seem to only be selling european chargers, is this something that I should be worried about? Sorry if those last few sentences were confusing, Ive been trying to find the answers for a while with no luck :D .

about your zaurus, I believe I read somewhere that it has a CF slot, if so you might want to check ebay for a CF wifi card (forgive me if you are talking about something else :D )

The thread about my Zaurus is here- http://www.1src.com/forums/showthread.php?t=105964 There is also one at PalmInfocenter.

As for GP2X, I wanted one but didn't go for it. It is recommended that you use good recharable batteries. It eats away at them fast because the firmware uses both processors at full speed. I heard the firmware update is coming really soon. There has been other updates. I'm not really up with the current community. Has been a while.

I just bought one (an 805 actually). I haven't played with it a lot, i've been too busy painting it.

Good points:
*Beautiful screen. It's the biggest ppc VGA screen, 4 inches diagonally.
* Nice styling
* Has a free upgrade to WM2003SE (ships with WM2003)
*Built-in WiFi and Bluetooth
* USB host (with accessory cable)
* extra high capacity battery available (expensive)

Bad points:
* hacks and tweaks needed to take full advantage of the VGA display but I think that's true of all VGA ppc's. There might be some instability with the VGA driver, nothing too serious, like I said I haven't played around with it much yet. It's worth it though once you see the beautiful screen and you should be able to get it work on most apps.
* It's old, and therefore unsupported by Toshiba and hard to find.
* Buliker than most ppc's, but not too bad, and the 4" screen compensates for that.

This poll (http://www.1src.com/forums/showthread.php?t=108540&page=5) says TH55 wins by a land slide. The runner up, TX, is only trailing 37% of TH55 votes. Zodiac 1/2 is 18% of TH55 votes. Zaurus is not even 5% of TH55 votes. You guys can make the fuss about this PDA or that PDA is better, even PPC lovers are hanging around here, as if there are nothing better in PPC sites, but the poll tells the fact, so weak up and smell the coffee. ;) :D
