Error installing/uninstalling Palm Desktop

When I try to install or uninstall Palm Desktop, I get an error saying

Error 1316.A network error occured while attempting to read from the file C:\WINDOWS\Installer\palmOne.msi

I cannot sync my Lifedrive with my computer at all, which is what prompted me to attempt a reinstallation. What should I do?

I would go to palm.com and download a fresh copy of the palm desktop for the lifedrive, and try installing again.

If that doesn't work, I would uninstall the palm desktop manually by deleting it from the registry, etc, and then try to install again.
