Transferring files from T665 to NX

My faithful T665 was recently destroyed :( Since that model is no longer available (at least at BestBuy), I went ahead and upgraded to the NX series. What I want to know now is this:

Which of my old software apps and files can I transfer to my new Clie, and which should I leave off?

I use BackupBuddy, but have never gone from one model to another so am not sure how to do this.

Do not Hotsync directly with BackupBuddy. You will have to uncheck a few things first. Do not transfer any preferences, Saved or Unsaved. Application databases are okay. No hacks or preference applications. There are also system databases that should not be transferred. The best thing to do is to just transfer your application databases and install the applications from scratch. Of course, you will have to re-enter your registration codes.

What are preference applications? Also, can I even use hacks with OS 5.0? I wasn't sure. If so, would I install them separately, or what?
