The kind of name you shouldn't be posting a second thread about when we already have one.

I just got here from the Revolution Report (http://www.revolutionreport.com) forums, and I've had to deal with this crap all day. Just give it a week, let it sink in. You'll get used to it.

rofl!

Well, at least they didn't call it the Go! like some people were speculating, 'tho Wii ain't much better...

IMHO they should have just called it the Revolution... that is a great name!

Same here. If anything, that's what it has been branded and what we all know it as.

Good article about the Wii;
http://www.time.com/time/magazine/article/0,9171,1191861-1,00.html

The new Zelda will use the Wii's controler to swing the sword, aim the bow and fish. Kick Arse!!! :D I hope they release a special Zelda controller.

I quoted you, because are you ready... It only has TILT. Na na na naaa naaa. :p ;) They converted their controller into nothing more than a glorified Pokemon GB pinball game. They had tilt and rumble from wha I recall. :D

It's border line LAME. read this;
http://blogcritics.org/archives/2006/05/09/011825.php

And check out a TRUE 3 dimensional controller;
http://wii.nintendo.com/controller.html

Nintendo has my heart right now, do to their innovating innovations for games. :o

The best part. I'll be able to easillyl afford a Wii and any of its 27 titles available at launch.

Yup, I am ready to see a 2nd round of Nintendo beating down on others like the DS vs PSP. Just goes to show people want fun gameplay and not good graphics.

I was just on Engadget, and saw that the PS3 controller will in fact NOT have rumble! :(

JackAxe

That sucks big time. I was tryingt to think of rumble earlier and wrote vibration. :o

Well, it has tilt, so imagine playing Marble Madness on your new PS3 controller. ;)

The name is dumb, but the console is a pretty genius idea. They have my money on launch day.

I thought the name was Wiitarded when I first heard it, but it has certainly caught on fast an it's easy to say and remember. Now I look at my other choices for next-gen game consoles and I think they're Wiitarded. :D

Atleast they didn't call it the iWii, but I would still buy it.

So true. I'm not only buying 3 additional Wiimotes, but at least 2 classic versions. That zapper thing also has my intereset. Not too mention I'l lbe buying as many games as I can get my grubby paws on, just to experience the Wiimote in its full glory. :)

Lets do a comparison:

Nintendos controller:
-Full motion sensing in 3D space, can direct objects onscreen with pinpoint accuracy.
-Has built in rumble
-Has built in speaker
-Looks different from the old controller, though nintendo will offer a classic version
-Completely wireless
-Though it really falls under the first feature, I just have to mention that you can use it as a sword or lightsaber!

PS3 controller:
-Its Wireless
-It tilts
-and... oh yeah, they took out the rumble...
-Not a sword!

I might mention that although the Wii doesnt have HD, it will output 480p widescreen (better than widescreen DVD, since it doesnt have to be deinterlaced). As you may know, this resolution will look very very good if the rendering onscreen is done well. Not that that matters, since you wont be paying too much attention to the quality of the picture during your epic lightsaber fight against darth vader! Hmm, so I wonder if that control bar thing is wireless, because it would be awfully cool to hook the wii up to my projector...

further ranting, I wonder if it can detect which direction you are in relation to the screen. That way, the characters could look at you, even if you move around...

dragonsgames
05-10-2006, 10:16 PM
I doubt if it can tell where you are compared to the screen, MAYBE to the Wii, though... ;)

JackAxe
05-11-2006, 02:31 AM
The game could just assume that you're always facing the screen, so look towards where ever you move.

The wiimote could also be used to determine direction.

Someone one on Slashdot(Or one of the othe sites I was checking out) was also asking about the bar and placement for his projector. It uses a USB cable, so if anything maybe an extension cable. It wouldn't be esthetically pleasing, but it would be fun. :)

Funny thing; About 5 months ago, Slashdot had a poll about what will be your next gen system. Needless to say, Sony was in the lead big time and the XBox had about double the votes of the Wii.

Now look at the results; :D

I think it's fairly safe to say that the Wii has a PPU, so even with its lower powered main proc, it can probably easilly keep up with even a fully optimized PS3 or X360 in the future when it come to physics, since those two consoles rely on software to handle physic models. Blah.

Yeah, although some of the motion features are integrated into the controller, such as the tilt in all directions, and possibly acceleration, the pointer movement is dictated by the Ir signal and the sensor bar. In all cases, the sensor bar goes under the screen. In one of the pictures it appeared to have a pretty long cord.

Makes you wonder though, if the Wii needs a WPU, Wiimote Processing Unit. It has to simultaneously process 3D motion input from up to four controllers, so that seems like a possibility.

Last thing: Anyone ever played PsyOps? Think about that with the WiiMote...might just about be the coolest thing ever done on a console.

Man oh man, seein gwhat the Wii will be doing, its so sweet. Games are meant to be fun and darn it, Nintendo is going to give it to us :D The downfall for both the Xbox and the PS3 is that the games are going to be boring, most likely sequels of the current games or knock off of them. I am getting lil bored playin the same thing over and over. Grand theft auto 3 was cool at first but couple sequels later I am finding it hard to play it to the end because its just the same thing over and over. We need new inovative games to reawaken the gamer in me and the wii will do that :D. I hope they release it soon :D

What's funny to me, is that my friend who is pretty neutral about all game consoles, since he manages at GameCrazy, was pissed off that Nintendo's booth was closed off. :D So going to E3 this year to see the Wii, wasn't a guaranteed prospect. My friend leans towards Nintendo because of quality, but he had a few choice words about their elitist booth. :D I could only laugh, because everythign I've seen on-line has wowed me to the point that I want one now. Unless you were lucky enough to get into Nintendo's booth, than on-line info was way more abundant than what they offered at the expo. But I could see my self being irratated if I had gone to soley to see Nintendo, but couldn't get in.

Sorry, spelled it wrong...PsiOps maybe?

Anyways, its an XBox game in which you play a guy with psi powers. The coolest of these is that you have telekinesis. You can move stuff with your mind. On the XBox you use the controller to pick objects up, and you can move them in three dimensional space. The controller scheme is a little awkward, but really cool. I cant imagine what it would be like on the Wii.

JackAxe
05-14-2006, 09:19 PM
I recall commercials for the game now, but I'd imagine that PsiOps, like so many others would be ehnanced greatly with the Wii's control setup. :)

At least you translated my "bet" to "be." :o
