considering leaving my UX50 and getting a PPC or a zaurus. I like the sound of the zaurus line very much but have no linux experience at all. I am not stupid and use computers almost all day but do *no* programming at all apart from maybe hello world in html.... But I do fear using these complicated sounding beasts.
Would love opinions from those who have left palm for zaurus (or WM2005)

cheers
Russ

I switched not to long ago from a NX-70 to a Zaurus sl-c860.
Before I switched, I didn't know anything about Linux. I thought that was going to be a problem, but it wasn't. Unless you are trying to run some crazy programs, you shouldn't need to ever type in any code. Here is a small review I did on it. http://www.1src.com/forums/showthread.php?t=107588
and here are two links to software sites so you can look it over and see what is available.http://www.killefiz.de/zaurus/

I am very happy with my Zaurus. after spending more time using it, I have found that I only miss one program that I had on my Clie. the olive tree Bible program. I haven't found a nice one for the Zaurus yet.

The Archos has linux, I am now using OpenPMA for Archos...

I use Palms for Business stuff. But the Archos for Video, Music, record Cable programs to Archos, watch on Tv or PC or Archos. Have recored over 60gb of SFi channel, over 30 music videos from VH1. It works and keeps on working.

Just started using it to convert VCR videos to Digitial and it works great.

New project convert videos recorded by Video Camera to Digitial from tape.

Very happy with using both for what they do best.

I own a Palm T, T3, and LifeDrive. I am Palm developer, see BBTracker on this site. Project to convert BBTracker to JAVA, then can run it on Archos.

Happy in both worlds. Linux or PalmOS or what ever OS.

I have worked and used DOS 1.x to Dos 6.x
I have worked and used MS windows 1.x to XP PRO.
I have worked and used Unix for over 10 years.
I have three versions of Linux running on desktops, or handhelds.
I have ONLY MS XP Pro on one desktop.... triple boot... or is four?
I traded in my old CE device to Palm, got $50 for it...
I have used handhelds over 10 years, even before Palms...
I have used Personal Computers since the beginning...
I have programmed on MainFrames, Mini-Computers, PC's and now Handhelds.

The smartphone is the future... or is it the Wrist Agent...

:)
