I keep many memos in my Palm - and to get to the information quickly, I would use the Search feature. My unit will automatically reset itself when searching.
Why is this happening?
Any ideas/suggestions?

Welcome RacerZ to 1src.
Do you have Tealscript or TealMove installed on your T|X? if yes , try updating to the latest version. Secondly, It's propably a software conflict. so what you can do is to follow this (http://kb.palmone.com/SRVS/CGI-BIN/WEBCGI.EXE?New,Kb=PalmSupportKB,ts=Palm_External2001,Case=obj(40486)) solution. Hope it helps.

Welcome to the T|X club,
firstly mines been doing this since day one, not all the time, normally when i ask it to search for more.
If this is the first fault your lucky. To get you up to speed, Dmitry is an amazing programmer who you will learn a lot about. NAND is the type of memory that's in your T|X. and Franken Garnet, is well... Franken Garnet.
But on a more serious note, list the applications that you got on your device, and myself and the rest of the community will try and help you out.
And once again, Welcome to 1src
My quick guess... the TX is resetting because it runs out of available DB Cache while searching. Solution? Turn off as many background apps/hacks as you can. Dmitry's UnCache might help with that.

The wordsmith application would also cause such kind of problems with the search tool...

I do not experience this so have a feeling that either the backup folder was not renamed prior to initial sync if OP is an upgrader or that some NVFS incompatible application has been installed.
Hard reset and precisely follow the upgrade directions in Palm's knowledge library if you upgraded.
Check palmfocus.com and delete suspects if the latter.

I've had this problem most of the time I've had my TX. This morning I decided to see if I had installed an incompatible program. Although all my programs worked, I wondered whether one was interfering with the system in some way. This is what I did.
1) Set aside an hour
2) Backed up Palm: used the free NVBackup and Resco to be sure
3) Deleted programs one by one. After deleting each program I did a search to see if TX still reset. When it did reset, I then deleted the next program on the list
4) After half hour, and a large number of resets, I found the culprit.
5) Restored TX from Sd Card
6) Deleted incompatible program
I finally have a TX which I can do searches on. :)

drwho,
Question: What was the errant program?
Also, note: Sometimes it is not the program, but it's data that is at fault (well actually it is still the programs fault, but this does provide an alternative work around). Removing the errant program, all of it data, and then reinstalling sometime fixes the problem without loosing the use of the program. I have seen Documents to Go fall under this case.

It was a program called BibleSwitchboard. As you suggested, I uninstalled it, and then re-installed it, and it seems to be working OK. I will keep an eye on it and see if the problem re-occurs
