What do you get when someone works hard on a ZL theme from Sjweise, and Its Lowres?? A crazy dude named SopGent. I bet you are thinkin who the H*ll is SopGent. I been making backgrounds for Lowres users at http://sopgent.bravehost.com. Well last week I was looking at the new themes for High-Res users and I saw ZL Vista I was like OMG someone would get alot of kudos for resizing all the images, making some of lines transparent, and the scrollbar transparent for LowRes. I finished most of the theme all I have to finish is the tab icons, and the function buttons. Remember Im fairly new to this Forum. Screenshots will be uploaded later today!!

As I said, kudos to those who support lo-res! Editing each image to make it look good at single density is no fun at all - great work.

But doesn't HPSS just resize the images for you? Its not the resizing that is a chore but ensuring the transparencies stay true. When you resize an image the pixels decrease and inevitably there is created a "halo" around the object that is a different rbg than the transparency index. Its thatfrustration and labor that prevents me from releasing lo-res versions.
FYI_ ZLIconfactory does the same operation for lo-res versions. It auto-resizes the hi-res image to the lo-res size. That is also why my iconsets don't really support lo-res, since I don't go back and edit the lo-res images to reduce the halo.

OMG you are so right that pink crap around the icons or tab panel was really getting on my nerves until I found out how to fix it. I dont use HPskinner I just use ZL Thememaker and Paint to make themes which is hard for LoRES themes. But I just bought ZLIconset Factory maybe I can make my first Iconset and let this forum rate it?? I think since everyone is really talking about how good HPSkinner is I will have to buy it in June bcause of school I won't have any extra cash lying around anywhere until June.

HPSS is great for themes. However, ZLIconfactory is still easier for iconsets. For Icons, the easiest way is this:
Start with png images of an iconset.
Create 4 folders - one for each icon size. (you can check the dimensions in zliconset factory or PFCD)
Copy the entire iconset into each folder.
Resize the entire iconest in each folder to the required dimensions. I do this by selecting all, right-clicking and choosing resize. This is an add-in tool for Win XP.There are other mass image resizers out there though.
Open each image in an image editor and set the background and save the image as bmp. Adobe Photoshop can automate this process for you and only take a few minutes. Otherwise it is one image at a time.

a good trick to rezise and keep the Hadow effect is to convert the images from 32, 24, 16 bit to 8bit (in photoshop you index the images )
and i you resize a index image the background colors will stay out of the graphics design

Doesn't dropping the bit depth to 8 down-grade the images? Or are they too small to notice at that point? I usually do all my images at the highest color settings possible. It always compiles to 16 bit though.

i did the scratch iconsets that way and i see a little change but when you index the icons and resize for s smalest size the icons will be clearer
but when i do a skin i use 24 or 16 bit icons and i use a background layer of the skin colrs and then i resize ans the then flaten everything so that way nobody see the square pixels

I have a problem when I try to make a Icon. When I set the Transparent to 255 0 255 and click the Icon the background will not be transparent

zl iconsets factory use (i dont know wich one) the colors of the top left of top right corner of the bottom left or bottom right corner to set the transparency color
that may be the problem or try 02550 thats green :D

ZLiconset can also set which color is transparent. There is a little pen icon on the right side of the screen that takes you to that option.
