What is Jacksprat?

JackSprat is a utility from Brayder Technologies gives you additional flash space with JackFlash by being able to delete the built-in applications, demos, features and extra languages (that you don't need or no longer use).  Here is the note from Brayder, www.brayder.com (http://www.brayder.com/) :

"Sony has made it impossible for us to support JackSprat
on their OS5 devices.  At this point, we do not anticipate
releasing a version of JackSprat for Clie OS5 devices."

Brad.

I'm really disapointed with this development (Although the current version of Jackflash, currently at 3.0b4 works very nicely):mad::mad:

@avega
:)
This is the direkt link to the downloadpage with the recent betas:
http://www.brayder.com/update/JF30/index.html

BUT:
You will need a username and password, mailed to you when you registered the beta. And Jackflashcodes ares specific for each Hotsyncname.

:(
SO: Not Jackflash without registering (and paying!)
See former threads: Buy Jackflash 2 and you will be mailed the link with a password to update to the recent beta....
Sorry

Michael

The evaluation version of JackFlash shows how much room is available in flash and that's about it. It wouldn't work on OS 5 yet, but when they do release it, that's what you can expect.

Anybody know if the latest JackFlash works on the TG-50? I can't find any info on the Brayder website.

Well, I call taking something without paying for it stealing, you might call it something else though.

I was able to download the beta of JackFlash that works with OS 5.0, and I was really surprised. I was able to move almost any kind of file into Flash! With OS 4, I was always getting error messages and warnings. Even with warnings enabled, the only things the new version wasn't able to move were the apps that were currently in use.

Now I'm almost nervous. Has anyone else tried it? Let me know the results...

Oops! Just found another huge thread dealing with this exact topic. Jackflash v3.0b1 - what works, what doesn't (http://www.cliesource.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=7379)

(Nothing like using the search engine, huh?) :o

Get the MS Pro or CF driver if you got extra CF. It's is more space than ROM!

What I quoted:

"Sony has made it impossible for us to support JackSprat

Brad.

The quote above was made in response to an email support request I made concerning the current version of JackSprat not working with Sony OS5 devices specifically the Clie NX70V.

If you doubt the veracity of the statement, check for yourself.

Where are you getting your information? In my support query to Brayder they said they have no plans to support any Sony OS5 devices with Jacksprat

Bevis asked if JackFLASH was supported on the TG-50.

Why does sony want control over their flash? What good does that do for them?

Hey, how much FLASH space does the NX70V have available? I've considered getting JackFlash but I'd want to know how much usable space I'd have before I do.

I believe it has 4.4 megabytes available.

Hey, why does Sony do a lot of things :)? One reason is so the user can't screw up their Clie, and yes it has happened. BTW, Sony wouldn't fix it under warranty. Some of the other stuff might be proprietary.

If it is that much, then I'm seriously considering JackFlash! Thanks for the info!
