Sony Digital Camera with CLIE as remote?

My sister told me she has a sony digital camera the 5 mega pixel one and she just bought a separate remote for it.

Well I am looking into getting a sony digital camera, well since I have 3 sony memory sticks for my nx70v....i'm forced to getting a sony brand name (the propiertary system works).

Is there a way to use the CLIE to take the pictures by infrared, and which camera would I need to buy in order to utilize the feature? Thanks!!!!

I'm not really sure about this, but as far as I know Sony cameras "remote" control isn't that remote... I went to take a look at sonystyle and I didn't see any tripod / remote control that said it was wireless.

Also, I own a Cybershot camera (F717, 5 megapixel, probably the same you mention) and I'm not aware that it can be controlled remotely (via infrared, not the wired remotes).

So, if I'm right, the Clie can't be used to remotely control the camera. :( I'll take a second look at the camera (searching for the option), but my guess is still a no.

How about reading THIS POST (http://www.cliesource.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=5756&highlight=remote) An app was reported to Clieplanet that allowed some control over some Sony camera.

jmg's post made me curious, so I followed his link and I went to google to search for cybershot and bluetooth. It appears that a few (very few) Sony cameras have bluetooth support (mine doesn't :( )...

Not to excuse myself, but that is way way better that a *regular* remote!

In my Opinion, this feature is very cool but not a decisive factor to select a particular digital camera. I strongly recomend Sony's Cybershot cameras (I owned a F505V for over 2 years and recently the F717). Anyway, it's your choice (and your budget) :D

I have a Sony NX70V and a Sony TRV-140 Digital 8mm. My Clie controls my TRV-140 fine. I am however limited to the functions of just vcr I can't zoom or anything like that. I can fwd, rwd, start, stop play and start record from my Clie. I just used the Sony mode1 VCR profile. Worked first try just fine.
