View Full Version : Sony Goofed
I was updating my nz with the new patches and found the following info from sony.
http://www.ita.sel.sony.com/support/news/clienz90.html
Apparently they mislabeled the blue subpart of our keyboards (above the back space) and what should be shown as a \ or forward slash is shwon as a Y with a line through it. They say u can send in for a sticker to place over this but for $800 I think they should be doing better then that... or am I wrong?
PS - On a positive note the clie viewer update does speed up the program quite a bit and is worth the extra space it takes up.
I just saw the annoucment was posted March 27th. Sorry if someone allready mentioned this.

And guess what? ? They goofed again !
Cause they said that it's supposed to be a "/"
But actually if u press it a "\" comes up.

Mine shows up as the Y with the lines, no / or \ .
I wonder why you guys get the / or \ and I get the Y with the lines....wierd
Do you have a newer unit..? I am sure they ae fixing this...? I thought it was only on early releases.

I purchased mine the day they came out.
Maybe that explains it.

Call SONY and ask them for a sticker. It's hilarious. I did, nobody knew what to do, I kept getting bumped upstairs to higher-level service, and after about 20 minutes of this they eventually decided to get back to me. They called me the next day to say it had been arranged, and the next day after I got this large box from FedEx full of stuffing and a tiny little plastic bag with 6 minuscule stickers in it. Yes, the sticker displays a \ and that is what shows on my unit. My guess if yours shows the yen sign, it's a model intended for the Japanese market, not the North American market.

What the..??
I wonder if they converted them from the Japanese format for the release...is that even possible?
Now I'm starting to get a little peeved. For the price, you would think they would sell the ones intended for the U.S.
LOL... Don't Snap.
You COULD do something else, take it back to the store, and looking at the current US release versions, nicely tell them you for some reason seem to have gotten a unit which were not intended for release here in the USA. Then ask them to sen your old one back to Sony and give you a nice new one with the right keys. Chances are they will very politely do just that.

I had the same experience as skou2. The phone service guy was nice, but didn't know who was handling it. I read him the URL of the page, he pulled it up on his computer, and started laughing. I had to go through a run-around while they tried to figure out what to do, but he eventually took my information. Next day I got an overnight express envelope with the tiny packet of stickers.
This was my first experience with Sony Support, so from what I've read here I got off easy.
but a sticker? Are u kidding me. Thats gonna come off so easily and it would jsut look silly. They should def. have come up with some better means of compensation then that.

That reminds me of the time I noticed my sony laptop had a tiny screw - much smaller than a thumb tack - missing from the bottom. I called Sony, and they overnighted me a replacement. It came in a box as big as the one my last pair of hiking boots arrived in! Great service, but man - if that's the level of inefficiency, somebody ought to get in there, clean things up, and use the savings to lower the price of a new NZ90 to, say, twenty bucks!

I know what u mean. I got an extra battery for the Nz90 and the package was so big that I could probably fit my house in it

I have the service plan through Soundtrack....I wonder if they would hassle me to exchange it.
I wonder if the battery is better with the later releases...Hmmmm
Wellll. I DID take mine back, because the writing area stopped working, and did get one which now is about 1 week old. It is working great and it IS taking more pictures than my first one... Though I have not bench-marked it... If I was you I would try.

You just about have me talked into it. The only real pain is reloading your programs.
Maybe I should wait until I have a real problem.
Decisions, decisions...

as far as the key, i wouldn't get too bent out of shape... mine has the incorrect key, however it types correctly. To me this is no big deal... i think the sticker is kind of stupid... but this is such a minor thing.. i can deal!
