Try a system reset (http://kb.palm.com/SRVS/CGI-BIN/WEBCGI.EXE/,/?St=59,E=0000000000319309584,K=9714,Sxi=8,useTemplate=Case.tem,CASE=887#system)

If you want, I can check it out for you. Simply pay shipping and I will diagnose it. Ever since I bought a lot of used PDA's, I can't get enough of that rush when you open the case!

Could it be that the battery has been fully drained and that it needs to charge for three (3) hours?

If you haven't done so already, try an in-cradle reset (http://kb.palmone.com/SRVS/CGI-BIN/WEBCGI.EXE?New,Kb=PalmSupportKB,ts=Palm_External2001,Case=obj(887)#incradle). Basically, put it in the cradle or connect the charging wire then hit the reset button located on the back of the handheld.
If still no luck, you may have a bad charger; try borrowing one from a friend or possibly visit a store which sells Palm devices and has an open display - you may be able to connect up to one of their chargers just long enough to test.
