Currently author added links are rendered in dark blue without underline; advertisement links are rendered in green with a hard underline. The dark blue without underlining does not draw a very strong contrast to the default black text, so readers often do not notice this links.
Therefore, would it be possible to change the rendering of author added links to say the standard blue with underline.
Examples:
Author added link to Palm (http://www.palm.com).
An attempt to trigger an advertisement link:
Palm
iPod
Memory Stick
Sony
Desktop
T-Mobile

Wow, all those showed up as ads for me...
(Palm, iPod, MS, Sony, Desktop, T-Mobile)
I think that the blue is fine, but maybe you could choose what color it is when you add it in, that would not be difficult at all... ;)

The preview did not show any add links, so I just keyed in a bunch of keywords that I thought would or saw did generate an add links. Right after I posted all had links for me also. Right now, only Sony has the add link.

Normally I think blue is fine. But the darker blue and without the underline it is hard to realize that I link is there. Can I see them? Yes. But it is not a very strong contrast. If I lean back a bit, it becomes very hard to pick out the links. However, my eyesight is not the issue. Recently I have posted messages with inline links. However, based off of some readers’ replies they did not realize the links were there.
Hmm, let's experiment with your suggestion:
Link to Palm (http://www.palm.com).
Underline link to Palm (http://www.palm.com) ({u} inside {url}).
Underline link to Palm (http://www.palm.com) ({url} inside {u}).
Underline blue link to Palm (http://www.palm.com) ({u}{color} inside {url}).
Underline blue link to Palm (http://www.palm.com) ({url} inside {u}{color}).
Cool. However, looks like one has to be careful to put the color-tag inside the URL-tag.
