Hi all,

This is my first post to this newsgroup.

Here's my problem :

I have an application (using Handbase) which runs on multiple palm pilots in the field which users use to do their updates and then dial-up the office with these updates.

The units are composed of IIIcs, M515s & Zire 72s. The Palm desktop is 4.1.4 and the documents to go version is 4.x

I tired to see if the Tungsten E2 (running OS 5.4.7) would run (i.e. hotsync without crashing using hotsync version 4) and it does. Only drawback : no SDIO camera which my users need.

Next up I tried the Tungsten TX (running 5.4.9). This was a laugh. Besides itermittently crashing the hotsync (error R6025 - pure virtual function call), it also did some whack job on Docs To Go version 4 (i.e. it discarded the main menu icon though leaving the programs). NO way.

My next test is the T5. The version I have to work with has 64mb of memory running 5.4.5. Believe it or not, it actually works. My question is : are the newer T5s still running 5.4.5 or is it later ? If so, it's probably a good bet that THIS unit will also not be backwards compatible.

If anyone has a current T5 that they could look at and let me know whic OS is running, I'd appreciate it.

Niall

Minor point that you might want to look into: The T5 and E2 did both come with Palm Desktop 4.1.4, however they also came with Hotsync Manager 6.0.1. I understand that the TX came with Palm Desktop 4.2. Therefore, you might want to try upgrading and testing again.
