I noticed that I have to be in the router room to get 4 of the the Wifi Bars ( I even get 3 bars if I am to standing very close to it). If I am in the next room I´m lucky if I get 3 bars. It seems like the TX wifi antenna is much weaker than those on a portable computer? I get better bluetooth range than wifi range.....

I get decent reception (3 & 4 bars) outside my house as well as 3 rooms and one floor down from the router. Perhaps there is something obstructing your signal.

I think it depends on the router. If it has an external antenna, you may want to to turn it into another direction (If you are mainly on the same floor, turn the antenna into a vertical position).

My TX generally gets as good wifi reception as some desktops. I just used it this past week to test a wifi setup in my parents' house. One of their computers wasn't getting wifi reception as well as my TX while I was standing in the same place.

...And you may have better success giving the router some altitude.

I've slipped my D-Link vertically amongst some books on the top shelf of my bookcase and it's signal is very strong....

I don't find the Wifi bars very helpful anyway. I can be standing next to the dongle on my PC and be connected, yet it shows no bars. I can be 50 yards up the road, and it registers a strong signal.

The WiFi on my TX is better than on my Powerbook 17" but not as good as in my Inspiron.

My T|X sees more networks than any of the Powerbooks (have tried 1.33 12", 1.25, 1.5 & 1.67 15" or 1.33 17"). I get a more stable connection on it than on a Travelmate 8104, which, according to the stickers (i know they are very reliable ;-)) is supposed to have improved Wifi range and sees much more networks than the Powerbooks. Its range is way better than the TH-55's (either US or european version).

Really strange, because my mac can get very strong wifi connection in the garden, but the TX cannot even connect if go outside. Also, 4 bars is only happening if I hold the palm next to the router. If I go downstairs, im lucky if I can connect at all....
Bluetooth signal is stronger outside than Wifi.

Sounds like a defective TX. Is it under warranty?

Could be interferences too - does the wifi works better anywhere else ? Maybe the T|X is more sensible to them.

The TX may be more sensitive to interference from other 2.4ghz devices, such as cordless phones. (although I haven't had that problem since I use a 5.8 ghz cordless)

l do have a 2.4 phone nearby, I could try moving it. The router sits very high up on a shelf, would it work better on the 1st floor?

If you can move the phone into another room (or better yet buy a 5.8ghz). I unplugged my 2.4 when I discovered it disconnected my wifi everytime I had it within 10-15 feet of the router.
